If you go to a petrol pump without PUC to fill petrol in your vehicle, you are bound to get a challan of Rs 10,000. The Delhi government has allotted the tender to private company Navgati Tech to install cameras and software for PUC testing at 100 petrol pumps.

The company has to start its services within 15 days. The company has been given the contract for five years.

The transport department official said that the company has been asked to prepare the system for PUC testing at at least 25 petrol pumps within 15 days. After that, the PUCC testing system will be installed at 100 petrol pumps in a few days. Its estimated cost is six crore rupees. Under the scheme, if the vehicles coming to the petrol pumps do not have a valid PUCC, then a few hours will be given for pollution testing and if the PUC is not made within this period, an e-challan of Rs 10,000 will be automatically deducted and its information will be sent to the vehicle owner on his mobile.

New Delhi. If you live in Delhi and you have a car or bike, then soon your pocket is going to become looser. Because, running vehicles can be expensive. However, it is not that the prices of petrol and diesel are increasing but the prices of pollution testing are going to increase soon.

In such a situation, its effect can be seen directly on the pockets of vehicle owners. According to the report of NBT, taking action on the long pending demand of petrol dealers, the Transport Department has sent a proposal to the Transport Minister to increase the fee of PUC testing for issuing Pollution Under Control Certificate to vehicles.

As soon as this proposal gets approval from Delhi government’s Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot, the fee for pollution testing will be increased. Surprisingly, this increase can be up to 70 percent.

Why the demand for increase in fees?

About 900 PCU testing centers have been opened at petrol pumps and CNG stations in Delhi. Pump dealers say that the pollution testing fees have not been increased since 2011, i.e. for 12 years, while the cost of running a PCU testing center has increased a lot in all these years. The Petrol Dealers Association had announced a strike at all PCU centers from July 1 and closed them indefinitely. After this, Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot held a meeting with the members of the association last week.

In this meeting, Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot had said that the government supports the dealers’ demand and the fee for PUC testing will be increased soon. After this assurance, the pump dealers have postponed their strike till July 11. The Transport Department has sent this file related to the proposal to Minister Kailash Gehlot. According to sources in the Transport Department, they have sent a proposal to increase the fee for PUC testing on the basis of inflation rate between 2011 and 2024.

What could be the fee for PUC examination

If this proposal of the pump dealers is approved, then the PUC fee of two and three wheeler vehicles running on petrol and CNG in Delhi will increase to Rs 102 and the fee of cars running on petrol and CNG will increase to Rs 136. Apart from this, the fee for diesel vehicles can go up to Rs 170.
