School holidays Extended: The last month of the year, i.e. December, begins with cold. Severe cold starts in many states of North India from the second-third week of December. In such a situation, orders have been issued to close schools to protect children from cold and keep their health in mind. Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad and many nearby cities have recorded a sharp drop in temperature due to rain for the last two days.

Jammu and Kashmir: In view of snowfall, the Jammu Education Department had started winter vacations for school students from December 10, 2024 to 5th standard and from December 16 for classes 6 to 12th. Now all schools will open after February 28, 2025.

Winter vacations 2024 have been announced in many states including Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Delhi, Rajasthan, Haryana. The impact of snowfall in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu is being seen in many states of North India. Most states will have holidays from January 1 to January 15, 2025. However, depending on the weather, the winter vacations can be extended further. Along with this, vacations have started in most private schools in Uttar Pradesh.

Haryana and Delhi: The country’s capital Delhi and adjoining Haryana will have winter vacations from January 1 to 15, 2025. These orders have been issued for all government and private schools.

Madhya Pradesh: Schools will have winter vacations from December 31, 2024 to January 4, 2025. After this, there will be a Sunday holiday on January 5. In such a situation, schools will open from Monday, January 6.

Rajasthan: In this state, all private and government schools will remain closed for winter vacations till January 5. Strict action will be taken if children are called to school in violation of the orders.

Jharkhand: All schools here will remain closed till January 5, 2025. This order is for government schools in Jharkhand. After this, government schools across the state will open on January 6.

Winter vacation: Winter vacations have been announced in all schools in Haryana from January 1 to 15. The Directorate of School Education has issued orders in this regard. Schools will open on January 16.

The state education minister had already announced this and now as per the orders, these holidays have been implemented in all government and private schools.

The orders also clarify that during these holidays, students of classes 10 and 12 running under boards like CBSE, ICSE can be called to school for practicals as per their scheduled program. This decision has been taken to prevent any disruption in the studies of students of the board’s classes.

Guidelines for School Administration

The state education department has also informed the District Education Officers, Block Education Officers and School Heads about this order. Schools have been instructed to take necessary precautions during the cold season from the point of view of health and safety of the students so that the children do not face any kind of problem.

The government has appealed to students and parents to dress their children warmly and provide them with nutritious food in the cold. Also, children should be encouraged to stay indoors so that they can avoid the cold. Apart from this, children’s time can be utilized properly by keeping them busy in small tasks.
