The Railway Ministry has issued a new guideline for submitting emergency quota applications. According to this circular issued by the ministry, passengers applying for emergency quota (EQ) seats will now have to submit the application one day before their journey date.

For some time now, the Railway Department has made several changes in the rules related to ticket booking to simplify the process of ticket booking (Railway Ticket Booking Rules) and for the convenience of all passengers. Now once again the Railway has changed the rules, but this time the change has been made for Emergency Quota (EQ). This change has been made to improve the operation and to overcome the problems that arise at the last moment.

What has changed regarding emergency quota?

The Railway Ministry has issued a new guideline for submitting emergency quota applications. According to this circular issued by the ministry, passengers applying for emergency quota (EQ) seats will now have to submit their applications one day before their journey date. This new rule has been implemented on rail services across the country.

What is emergency quota?

Emergency quota is reserved by the railways for some people who travel in emergency. Earlier, applications for booking emergency quota could be made on the day of travel, but now due to change in rules, booking has to be done one day before.

Who will benefit?

At the time of allotment of seats, emergency quota for self travel of senior government officials or MPs etc. is first allocated, as per their inter-se seniority in the order of preference. After this, senior citizens, medical emergency, job interview and other reasons are considered.

New rule of emergency quota

The circular said that emergency quota application for all trains running between 12:00 AM and 1:00 PM must be submitted by 1:00 PM one day prior to the journey.

For all other trains running between 1:01 PM and 11:59 PM, emergency quota application must be submitted by 1:00 PM on the day prior to the journey.

For trains running on Sundays or public holidays, application for emergency quota has to be submitted on the working day only.

Railways have changed these rules too

Indian Railways has introduced a rule to prepare the chart 8 hours before the train departure. Till now this chart was prepared only 4 hours before. This will give passengers a chance to book an alternative ticket if their ticket is not confirmed.

Aadhaar has been made mandatory for Tatkal tickets. Users without Aadhaar verification will not be able to book Tatkal tickets. Apart from this, OTP linked to Aadhaar number is also mandatory for online Tatkal booking from July 15.

If you have a waiting ticket, you will no longer be allowed to travel in sleeper and AC coaches. This means that traveling will become more convenient.

The fare of non-AC class in mail/express trains will be increased by 1 paisa per kilometer. The fare of all AC classes (AC first, second, third) will increase by 2 paisa per kilometer. There

Taking a big decision on Wednesday, the Railway Ministry has said that now users will not be able to book Tatkal train tickets without Aadhar Authentication.

It was clarified by the ministry that this big change (Tatkal Ticket Booking Rule Change) regarding ticket booking will be implemented from July 1, 2025. It is worth noting that recently Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw had said through a post on his Twitter account (now X) that these rules would be implemented soon.

Railway Ministry issued circular

In a circular issued by the Railway Ministry on June 10, 2025, while sharing information with all railway zones, it has been said that this decision has been taken to ensure that the general users can get the benefit of the Tatkal scheme. It has been said that from July 01, 2025, while only Aadhaar verified users will be able to book tickets through IRCTC website or app, after this, Aadhaar-based OTP authentication will also be made mandatory for Tatkal Booking from July 15, 2025.

Apart from this, railway ticket agents will also not be able to book tickets for 30 minutes before the Tatkal ticket booking opens. This time will be from 10:00 am to 10:30 am for AC class and from 11:00 am to 11:30 am for non-AC class.

Railway Minister had given indications of change

Let us tell you that on June 4, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav had said through a social media post that Indian Railways will soon start using e-Aadhaar authentication to book Tatkal tickets. Explaining its benefits in his post, he wrote that through this system, the genuine users of the railways will be helped in getting confirmed tickets at the time of need. It is expected that this system can be started by the end of this month. Now the Railway Ministry has announced it and this process will be implemented from July 1.

Only 10% users are Aadhaar verified!

According to IRCTC, the number of its users in the country is more than 13 crore, but the surprising thing is that only 10 percent of these users are Aadhaar verified. In such a situation, with the aim of making the Tatkal ticket booking process stronger, Indian Railways has made the rules strict and allowed only Aadhaar verified IRCTC accounts to do Online Tatkal Ticket Booking.

Government strict on fake IDs:

In a report that came a few days ago, it was told that after continuous irregularities were found in Tatkal Ticket booking, the government had started cracking down on users with fake IDs. This can also be estimated from the fact that IRCTC has blocked 3.5 crore fake user IDs in the last one year, due to which the congestion of the system on its platform has reduced to a great extent. Now the Railway Ministry is taking a big step in this direction and implementing the rule of Aadhaar authentication.

The post Tatkal tickets will not be booked without Aadhaar verification, rule applicable from July 1 first appeared on Rightsofemployees.com.

Indian Railway: The Maha Kumbh Mela held in Prayagraj is in its last phase, but the crowd of people arriving here is not decreasing. Trains on every route reaching Prayagraj are crowded. Roads are jammed and the price of air tickets is skyrocketing.

There is a huge crowd at the railway stations reaching Prayagraj. The stampede at New Delhi Railway Station was also the result of this crowd. In such a situation, North Central Railway has made new arrangements to control the crowd at railway stations.

The crowd of devotees is continuously increasing to take a holy dip in the Maha Kumbh. All the major bathing festivals have ended, but there has been no decrease in the number of people coming to Prayagraj. The crowd at major railway stations including Prayagraj Junction is not decreasing. Meanwhile, North Central Railway has implemented a special plan for crowd management.

Shashikant Tripathi, Chief Public Relations Officer, North Central Railway, Prayagraj Division, said that all VIP protocols have been stopped and advance booking of rest houses has also been stopped. Railways has again implemented its most effective scheme, the color coding system. Under this, passengers are being sent to different passenger shelters based on the color of their tickets.

Railways has arranged red, blue, yellow and green colour coding for passengers going in different directions at Prayagraj Junction, Prayagraj Chheoki and Naini stations. Passengers are being taken to the correct platform according to the colour of their tickets so that the crowd can be controlled. CPRO Shashikant Tripathi said that the holy bathing festival of Maha Kumbh is going on, however, the main bathing festivals have ended and now only the bathing festival of Mahashivratri is left. Despite this, the number of devotees is continuously increasing.

To control the crowd, the railways have arranged for single side entry and exit at Prayagraj Junction, so that the crowd can be controlled. When the crowd increases, the passengers are accommodated in Khusro Bagh and when the passenger shelters are empty, they are guided from there and brought to the platform.

Passengers are sent to the platform only when the train to their destination is stationed there. During the Maha Kumbh, only North Central Railway operated 134 Mela Special trains, while Northern Railway and Northeast Railway together operated 179 Mela Special trains. A total of 388 trains were operated on 15 February. Prayagraj Sangam Railway Station, which is closest to the Mela area, has already been closed for security reasons. Due to the small circulating area of the station, there is a lot of crowd there and chaos can spread.

The administration had demanded its closure, which was accepted by the railways. Due to the closure of Sangam station, devotees are forced to go to other stations, which has increased the crowd there even more. Traffic on the roads in the city has also been completely affected, there is a jostling among the passengers to board the shuttle buses. IANS

Train Ticket Cancellation: The government said in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday that the Railway Ministry levies ‘clerkage’ fee on all waitlisted tickets and the revenue collected from all sources, including cancellations, is used for maintenance and operation-related work.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said in a written reply to questions about cancellation charges on waitlisted tickets, “As per the Railway Passenger (Ticket Cancellation and Refund of Fare) Rules 2015, clerkage fee is levied on cancellation of all waitlisted tickets cancelled through IRCTC website.”

Will train ticket cancellation charges be waived?

Samajwadi Party MP Iqra Chaudhary raised the issue of the Railways imposing cancellation charges on waitlisted tickets cancelled due to lack of seats in trains.

Chaudhary wanted to know “whether the government is planning to waive such cancellation charges on the said waitlisted tickets cancelled by Railways.”

Why are waiting tickets issued?

Vaishnav said waiting list tickets are issued to fill seats that become vacant upon cancellation of confirmed/RAC tickets during the advance reservation period.

“Besides, waitlisted ticket passengers also have the option to be ‘upgraded’ under the updated scheme or transferred to an alternate train under the Vikalp scheme,” he said.

Asked whether the government has data on revenue collected from cancellation charges, Vaishnav said, “The amount collected on account of ticket cancellation is not kept separately.”

Waiting list and RAC ticket refund rules

If your ticket is in RAC and waiting list even after chart preparation and you cancel your ticket 30 minutes before the scheduled departure time of the train, then a cancellation charge of Rs 60 will be levied in sleeper class. Whereas in AC class, Rs 65 will be deducted. The remaining amount will be refunded.

There is no room in all trains between Patna and Delhi during Diwali and Chhath. In such a situation, the railway has tried to provide relief to the passengers trying to get tickets by releasing the schedule of a special Vande Bharat train between Patna and Delhi for the first time.

The train will cover the journey from Delhi to Patna in about 11 and a half hours. However, passengers will have to complete the journey from Delhi to Patna by sitting, because the train running as a special train will not be Sleeper Vande Bharat. Sleeper Vande Bharat is currently in the trial phase and it is expected that after the trial is completed, that train will be made regular in place of this special Vande Bharat.

The Railway Ministry has issued a letter to run the Delhi Patna Vande Bharat Express train as a special train on a trial basis, stopping at Ara and Buxar Junction under the Railway Division. The train will leave from Delhi on October 30 and November 1, 3 and 6 and from Patna to Delhi on October 2, 4 and 7 after October 31. In between, the train has been given stoppages at Ara, Buxar, DDU, Prayagraj and Kanpur.

The distance will be covered in 11 hours 35 minutes, read the timing and stoppages
It will depart from New Delhi at around 8:25 in the morning, stopping at Kanpur, Prayagraj, DDU Buxar, it will arrive at Ara Junction at 7:10 in the evening and will complete its journey in Patna at 8 in the evening. Whereas, it will depart from Patna at 7:30 in the morning and reach Ara Junction at 8:7 in the morning and Delhi at 7 in the evening.

Railways have announced several special trains for those coming to Bihar including Ara during Diwali and Chhath. 283 festival special trains are being run on different routes to control the crowd in trains during Diwali-Chhath. Railway Ministry has announced to run special Vande Bharat trains to provide relief to those coming and going to Bihar including Ara.

How much is the fare

In Vande Bharat, you may have to travel from Delhi to Patna sitting, but the fare will be more than the fare of sleeping in third AC in Tejas Express. The fare of SC chair car coach in Vande Bharat Special train is Rs 2575. Whereas for AC Executive Chair Car you will have to pay Rs 4655 per ticket. This includes four breakfasts and meals. In Tejas, you have to pay Rs 2485 for a third AC berth while travelling from Patna to Delhi.

New Delhi. This is very useful news for those who travel by Garib Rath train. Otherwise, you may face trouble while booking reservations. Don’t be surprised if passengers do not get the option of AC Chair Car and Second AC while booking reservations for travelling in these trains from next month. Indian Railways is going to make changes in the coaches of Garib Rath.

According to the Railway Ministry, currently 26 Garib Rath trains are being operated, which are covering about 52 routes. Some of these run weekly, some run two, three and four times a week. The fare of these trains is less than the third AC and chair car of normal trains. The fare of Garib Rath coaches is likely to be kept about 8 to 10 percent less than the fare of Economy AC Third.

These trains were started during the tenure of former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav. It has been decided to replace their old coaches with LHB coaches, which will be replaced with newly designed economy AC coaches. AC economy coaches are being produced at Rail Coach Factory in Kapurthala, Integral Coach Factory in Chennai, Modern Coach Factory in Raebareli.

According to the Railway Ministry, the coaches of Garib Rath are about 18 years old. They were started in 2006. Since then, the coaches have undergone a lot of changes keeping in mind the facilities of the passengers, but the passengers travelling in these trains are not getting the facilities. Due to this, a decision has been taken to upgrade them.

According to the Railway Ministry, the old coaches include second AC, third AC and chair car. The new Garib Rath will have only third AC coaches. That means there will be no second AC and chair car. Since the booking starts 120 days in advance, it is likely that the booking of second AC and chair car will be stopped in Garib Rath from next month. Since a large number of coaches will be needed for this change, the option of second AC and chair car will be gradually stopped.

This will be the change

AC Economy will have 81 seats, whereas the old coaches had 72 berths. Fire proof material will be used in the berths. Apart from this, there will be handles for hanging bottles, foldable snack table, modern toilets and reading lights as well as USB charging points in all the berths.

IRCTC: If you too often travel by train, then this news is of your use. Sometimes passengers have to stand in long queues to get train tickets. But now to get rid of this, the rules for booking tickets have been changed by the Railways.

Under this change, the Railway Ministry has increased the distance covered for booking unreserved tickets from the app. Passengers’ time will be saved , after this change, you can book tickets even if you are far away from the station from which you have to start the journey. This discount available in unreserved tickets will save the time of the passengers. Passengers will get rid of long queues to get tickets. Actually, till now you could book unreserved tickets through the app from 2 km away from the starting station.

Due to this change , now the distance of two km has been increased to 20 km. It has come to the notice of the Railway Board that when there is a distance of two km from the station, many times there is a problem of mobile network disappearing. Because of this, passengers could not book train tickets even if they wanted to. For this reason, this distance has now been increased from 2 km to 20 km by the ministry.

What is the new system:

Under the new system, for non-suburban classes, unreserved tickets can be booked from a distance of 20 kilometers instead of five kilometers. Apart from this, this distance has been increased from 2 km to 5 km for booking tickets for suburban section. After the introduction of this facility, now the passengers will get rid of long queues for tickets after reaching the station.

Indian Railways: The Railway Ministry has made a big announcement. Now the Railways has increased the distance traveled to book tickets from the app.

That is, now people can book tickets from the app from a long distance from the station from which they have to travel. The ministry has issued orders related to this.

If you also travel by train, then there is important news for you. Actually, the Ministry of Railways has taken a big decision on unreserved tickets. With this, lakhs of passengers traveling by booking unreserved tickets will be facilitated. In fact, under this, the ministry has increased the distance fixed for booking tickets through the app. According to the Ministry of Railways, the department has taken a big decision to stop the misuse of limited distance tickets.

Railway made a big announcement

That is, now you will be able to book tickets through the app from a greater distance than before from the journey starting station. Not only this, the ministry has issued orders related to this to the software maker Chris. It is worth noting that there are two types of tickets booked for traveling by rail, reserved and unreserved. Reserved tickets can be booked online or through the app for any destination from anywhere, but unreserved tickets can be booked only up to a limited distance from the journey commencing station.

Changes for which trains

Let us tell you that the Railways has changed the rules for booking unreserved tickets from Suburban and Mail-Express. But in trains like EMU, the same rules will be applicable as before.

Know what has changed

Now let us tell you what changes have been made by the Railways. Actually, till now, tickets could be booked from the app only at a distance of 2 km from the start of the journey for the suburban trains. For example, if a passenger has to catch a train from Delhi station, then he could book an unreserved ticket from the app by reaching within a radius of 2 km from the station.

But now after the new decision of the Ministry of Railways, now tickets can be booked up to a radius of 5 km. On the other hand, Mail Express has a distance of 5 km from the first start of the journey. Tickets could be booked within the periphery of the train, but now the circumference for these trains has been increased to 20 km. have been done.

Why was the rule changed?
