]]> The Central Government has given a big relief to the battery operated tourist vehicles. No permit fee will be charged from these vehicles. Also, the renewal will also be free of charge. The new rules will come into effect from May 1.

Under this, tourist vehicles running on electric, methanol and ethanol will get relief. The Ministry of Road Transport has made it mandatory for state authorities to issue permits within seven days of applying for an All India Tourist Permit (AITP).

The ministry has made several changes related to the promotion of tourism and issuing permits keeping in mind the environment. Notification related to this has been issued. This will provide relief to tourist vehicle operators. In the notification issued by the ministry, it has also been said that if the concerned transport authority does not decide on the permit in seven days, then the permit will automatically be issued through the electronic system.

Along with this, changes have been made in the permit fee. Operators can choose to pay the permit fee as per their convenience. In this regard, Chairman of Bus and Car Operators Confederation of India (CMVR) Gurmeet Singh Taneja said that this decision of the Ministry will be beneficial for the operators of tourist vehicles. Along with this, electric vehicles will be encouraged, which will help in preserving the environment by reducing pollution.
