With this decision of the government, now the government employees of Gujarat will be given gratuity up to Rs 25 lakh. This decision of the state government will benefit lakhs of employees of Gujarat.

Employees retiring after January 1, 2024 will get benefit After this decision of the Gujarat government, state government employees will get gratuity equal to that of central government employees. Due to the decision to increase the gratuity of state government employees, the Gujarat government will have to spend an extra Rs 53.13 crore every year. All employees of the Gujarat government retiring after January 1, 2024 will get the benefit of the increased gratuity limit. However, this limit will not apply to employees who have retired before January 1, 2024.

Dearness allowance also increased for government employees and pensioners

In another decision, the Gujarat government has also announced a 3 percent increase in dearness allowance (DA) for state government employees and pensioners. With this announcement, now people working in Gujarat government will get 53 percent dearness allowance of basic salary. DA will be increased on the salary received by the employees from July 1, 2024. The outstanding DA from July to November will be paid with the December salary. While pensioners will be paid it in January 2025. More than 9 lakh employees and pensioners of the state will benefit from the decision to increase DA.
