8th Pay Commission: Hopes have been raised among lakhs of government employees and pensioners regarding the 8th Pay Commission. If everything goes as per the plan, it can be implemented from January 2026. According to a report, after its implementation, about 11 million i.e. 1.1 crore employees and pensioners can get an increase in salary and pension by 30-34%.

A report says that in the 7th Pay Commission (2016) there was an increase of only 14%, which was the lowest in comparison to the previous Pay Commissions. But this time the government’s intention is to make the salary of employees competitive with the private sector.

What is the fitment factor?

The fitment factor plays the most important role in increasing the salary. It is a kind of multiplier, by which the new salary is decided by multiplying the basic pay. For example, in the 7th Pay Commission, the fitment factor was 2.57, due to which the minimum basic salary increased from 7,000 to 18,000. In the 8th Pay Commission, the fitment factor can be between 1.83 to 2.46. If this happens, then a substantial increase in the salary of government employees is considered certain.

Who will get the benefit?

About 44 lakh employees of the Central Government and about 68 lakh pensioners will directly benefit from this commission. Basic pay, DA i.e. dearness allowance, HRA i.e. house rent allowance, TA i.e. travel allowance and other allowances will also be reviewed under the commission.

What will be the impact on pensioners?

The number of government pensioners is more than that of employees. Their salary will also increase according to basic pay and DA, although they do not get benefits like HRA and TA. Also, a new Unified Pension Scheme has been implemented from April 2025, which guarantees at least 50% of the basic salary after retirement.

Fear of delay

Although the commission has been announced, its chairman, members and Terms of Reference (ToR) have not been decided yet. Due to this, there is a fear that the work of the commission will start late and it may take time for the report to be prepared, approved and implemented.

If this process starts late, then employees may get increased salary and arrears in 2027 instead of 2026. At the same time, the government is also trying to balance election promises, welfare schemes and fiscal deficit, which may slow down the process of salary hike. Employees have high expectations from the 8th Pay Commission. If everything happens on time, it will be a big increase in salary, pension and allowances.

Gratuity Calculation : When an employee gets a job offer, all the details are included in the CTC (Cost to Company). Cost to Company also includes gratuity and Employee Provident Fund (EPF) contribution. EPF calculation is easy, but understanding the calculation of gratuity can be a bit complicated.

What is gratuity?

Gratuity is the amount that is given to an employee when he leaves the company. Provided he has completed five years or more of service. In India, this payment comes under the Gratuity Act 1972.

How is gratuity calculated?

Gratuity is calculated based on the last basic salary received by the employee. Its formula is:

Last monthly salary × 15/26 × number of years of service

Based on the years of service, an amount equivalent to 15 days’ salary is received.

Example:

Suppose the annual basic salary of an employee is Rs 6,00,000.

Monthly basic salary = ₹6,00,000 ÷ 12 = ₹50,000

Years of service = 10

Now, according to the formula:

Gratuity = (₹50,000 × 15/26) × 10

= (₹28,846) × 10

= ₹2,88,460

In this way, the employee will get gratuity of Rs 2,88,460 on 10 years of service.

How to write gratuity in offer letter?

Generally, gratuity is written in the offer letter as 4.81% of the annual basic salary.

For example:

Gratuity = 4.81% × ₹6,00,000 = Rs 28,860 p.a.

What happens when the salary increases?

Since gratuity is based on the last basic salary, whenever there is an increase in salary, the calculation of gratuity also increases accordingly. Usually it gets affected at the time of annual salary appraisal.

Gratuity is an important part of the salary that one gets on leaving the job. Although it is a part of the CTC, it is not directly given in the monthly salary, but is given after the job ends. It also has some conditions, after the fulfillment of which gratuity is given.

8th Pay Commission : More than 1 crore employees and pensioners of the central government are eagerly waiting for the formation of the 8th Pay Commission. In view of the rising inflation, the demand for salary hike of the employees has started increasing.

The current 7th Pay Commission is going to complete its 10 years in January 2026. In such a situation, the demand for bringing the 8th Pay Commission has started increasing. With the arrival of the 8th Pay Commission, the minimum basic salary can increase from Rs 18,000 to Rs 34500. Also, it is expected that the government can constitute the Eighth Pay Commission in the new year.

When will the 8th Pay Commission be formed?

Usually the central government constitutes a new pay commission every 10 years. The 7th Pay Commission was constituted in 2014 and its recommendations were implemented from January 2016. According to this tradition, the 8th Pay Commission is expected to be constituted in 2025, so that its recommendations can be implemented from January 2026. However, the government has not yet made any official announcement regarding the formation of the 8th Pay Commission. A senior member of an employees union said that recently representatives of central employees had met the Cabinet Secretary on this issue. The secretary said that 2026 is still far away and said that this would be too early to form the commission.

How much salary increase is expected from 8th Pay Commission?

Under the 7th Pay Commission, the salary of employees was increased by about 23%, while the increase in the 6th Pay Commission was more than this. According to reports, after the 8th Pay Commission, the minimum basic salary is likely to be increased from ₹ 18,000 to ₹ 34,500.

There may be a change in the formula of dearness allowance

The formula for dearness allowance (DA) hike is decided on the basis of the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission. But it can be revised in the 8th Pay Commission. The Economic Survey of 2024 had suggested that food inflation should be separated from India’s inflation target. According to the association, the formula for DA hike is also likely to be changed under the 8th Pay Commission, which can benefit the employees more. Central government employees hope that their salary will increase significantly with the arrival of the 8th Pay Commission.

There is a heated discussion on the 8th Pay Commission on social media. More than one crore government employees and pensioners are eagerly waiting for the formation of the 8th Pay Commission by the Government of India.

The purpose of this commission is to remove salary inequalities and the impact of inflation. This will benefit government employees, retired employees and military personnel.

More than one crore government employees and pensioners are eagerly waiting for the formation of the 8th Pay Commission. The commission may submit recommendations to the government for increasing the salaries of employees. The 8th Pay Commission is likely to be implemented from January 2026. Historically, the central government has been implementing the recommendations of the new pay commission every decade. The 7th Pay Commission was implemented in January 2016. The first Pay Commission was formed in January 1946.

It is important to note that till now the Government of India has not made any formal announcement regarding the formation and implementation of the 8th Pay Commission. In December last year, the government had mentioned that at that time there was no plan to set up the 8th Central Pay Commission. However, now the Lok Sabha elections are over. In such a situation, there is a strong possibility that the government will move forward towards the formation of the commission. Usually after its formation, it takes about 12 to 18 months for the Pay Commission to submit its recommendations.

More than 1 crore people will benefit

When implemented, the 8th Pay Commission is expected to benefit around 49 lakh government employees and 68 lakh pensioners. Their remuneration is likely to be revised with the increase in the fitment factor. Reports suggest that the fitment factor will be set at 3.68 times the current value. Since the minimum basic pay of government employees is Rs 18,000, this hike will increase the basic pay by Rs 8,000 to Rs 26,000.

The fitment factor is important in deciding the salary and pay matrix of employees under the 8th Pay Commission. Its job will be to adjust the existing 7th CPC salary with the proposed 8th CPC pay scale.

The 7th Pay Commission introduced a fitment factor of 2.57 times. This led to an average increase of 14.29 per cent in the salary of employees. This fixed the minimum pay scale at Rs 18,000. The 8th Pay Commission is expected to help eliminate pay disparities between different employee groups and reduce the impact of inflation.

Many other benefits are also expected

Many other benefits are expected from the 8th Pay Commission. This includes revised pay scales and better retirement benefits. Apart from government employees, it will also affect military personnel and pensioners.

The aim of the 8th Pay Commission is to eliminate pay disparities between employee groups and to reduce the impact of inflation. As expectations are rising, the 8th Pay Commission is going to be an important milestone towards equal remuneration and financial security for government employees and retired employees.

To give relief to central employees from inflation, an increase in dearness allowance was announced last month, after which there was an increase in salary. Now the central employees are waiting for when the 8th Pay Commission will be implemented and when the fitment factor will increase.

If both are approved, then the salary of central employees can be increased tremendously up to 44 percent. Central employees are currently getting pay and allowances as per the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission, which was implemented almost 9 years ago in the year 2014. At the same time, now the central employees are demanding the formation of the 8th Pay Commission.

Employees have also demonstrated in Telangana regarding this. However, the Central Government has no clear stand on the 8th Pay Commission yet. However, there is a possibility that after the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the Central Government may constitute the 8th Pay Commission and it can be implemented by 2025-26.

Salary structure will change due to increase in fitment factor If the central government will implement the 8th pay commission, then there will be an increase in the fitment factor. The fitment factor plays a very important role in the salary received by central employees. Apart from the allowances of these employees, their basic salary is fixed on the basis of fitment factor.

After the implementation of the 7th Pay Commission in 2014, the fitment factor was changed from the year 2016. Since then 2.57 per cent fitment factor is applicable. Central employees are demanding to increase the fitment factor. The employees want the government to increase the fitment factor to 3.68 per cent.

There will be a 44 percent increase in the salary of central employees.

If the 8th Pay Commission is implemented or the percentage of fitment factor is increased, then how much salary of central employees will increase, let us understand it with an example. At present, central employees are getting 2.57 percent fitment factor, according to which the minimum basic salary of central employees is Rs 18,000. If the fitment factor is made 3.68 per cent, then the minimum basic pay will increase by more than 44 per cent ie Rs 8,000 directly to Rs 26,000.

DA DR Hike: The Tripura government has given great news to the employees of the state before the new year. Under this, there has been a tremendous increase in the Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) of the employees.

Tripura CM Manik Saha has announced a 12 percent increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) for state government employees and pensioners. State government employees and pensioners are happy with this announcement made by the government.

The increase will be applicable from 1 December This increase made by the government will be applicable from 1 December.
The state government revised the salary structure.

The Chief Minister said that increasing the DA/DR by 12 per cent would put an additional burden of Rs 120 crore on the state government every month. This is an additional burden of Rs 1,440 crore on an annual basis. Saha said that despite the paucity of resources, the state government has revised the pay structure. This will benefit lakhs of employees and their families. Let us tell you that assembly elections are to be held in the Northeast in February.

Apart from this, the employees and pensioners of the central government are also going to get the gift of DA and DR hike in the new year. Right now the DA of central employees is 38 percent.

New Wage code latest news: When will the new labor laws become a reality? Since when is this question in people’s mind? Especially people want to know that after its implementation, what will be the effect on their salary and how the salary structure will change.

However, a formal announcement is yet to be made. But, there is speculation that it can be implemented in the coming months. The matter is that whenever it is implemented, the biggest change will be seen in the salary structure. Till now you must have heard that your in hand salary will be reduced in the salary structure with the coming of new labor law. Because, the basic salary will be 50%.

This will cut more money into the retirement fund. The huge amount of allowances will be reduced. Now here is the twist. Even after the new salary structure comes, your in hand salary will not decrease but will increase. Let’s understand how…

Basic salary will be 50%

First understand that the government has prepared 4 new labor codes by adding 29 labor laws. According to the provisions of the new law, the basic salary will be 50% of the total salary (CTC) in the salary that companies will pay to their employees. This means that the basic salary which used to be 30-35 percent earlier, will be increased by 15 percent directly and the reimbursement-allowance part will remain 50 percent.

What is in the current salary structure?

Suppose your monthly salary is an annual package of Rs 1.5 lakh i.e. Rs 18 lakh. In the current salary structure, the basic salary is 32% of the CTC. In this sense, in the monthly CTC of 1.50 lakh, the basic salary will be Rs 48,000. Then 50 percent i.e. Rs 24,000 HRA then 10% of basic (Rs 48,000) in NPS i.e. Rs 4,800 will go.

If 12% of the basic salary goes to the Provident Fund (PF), then Rs 5,760 will go to the EPF every month. In this way your monthly CTC of Rs 1.50 lakh has become Rs 82,560. This means that the remaining Rs 67,440 is being given through other items. These include components like special allowance, fuel and transport, phones, newspapers and books, monthly share in annual bonus, gratuity.

Whose share in the current salary structure

HRA will get less tax exemption

According to the new rule, suppose the annual basic salary is Rs 9 lakh, then the HRA will be Rs 4,50,000. But, you will get tax exemption only on the exemption of Rs 2,42,400. Meaning tax will have to be paid on Rs 2,07,600. Earlier, you had to pay tax on only Rs 45,600 received under the head of HRA. There is going to be a huge increase in tax on HRA in the new salary structure. If you compare the tax on annual CTC, now you have to pay tax of 1.10 lakh (6.1% of total CTC), which will be Rs 1.19 lakh (6.6% of total CTC) in the new structure.

We have shown 3 structures above, according to them, if you want, you can keep your take home salary as it is now, but you cannot stop the increase in tax. However, your annual retirement savings will increase.

In the existing salary structure, the take home salary is Rs 1.14 lakh, but in the new structure the take home salary will be reduced to Rs 1.08 lakh. If you leave the option of NPS, then it will increase to Rs 1.15 lakh. In the first structure, tax is to be paid Rs 1.10 lakh (6.14% of CTC). In the new structure, this will increase to Rs 1.19 lakh (6.6% of CTC). There will be no tax effect even if you leave NPS and you will have to pay only Rs 1.19 lakh.

In the current structure, the retirement savings of this salary bracket is Rs 1.96 lakh (10.9% of CTC), which will increase to Rs 3.06 lakh (17% of CTC) in the new structure. On leaving NPS, retirement savings will be Rs 2.16 lakh (12% of CTC) instead of Rs 1.96 lakh.In this case your take home salary will increase

New Labor Code employees can soon get a big gift from the government. After the implementation of the new wage code, employees will have to work four days a week and employees will have 3 days off in a week. Let us know when the new wage code is going to be implemented

New Labor Code may be implemented in the country soon. The government is preparing to make big changes for the employed people. However, the government has said that at present no time has been fixed for its implementation. The central government wants all the states to implement the new labor code together. But till now the governments of all the states have not finalized the draft on their behalf. If the new labor code can be implemented in the coming months, then people working in the private sector will get many benefits.

Four new labor codes

Minister of State Rameshwar Teli had told in Parliament recently that most of the states have sent their draft rules on four labor codes. Rest of the states are working on the process of preparing it. The new labor codes are related to Wage, Social Security, Industrial Relations and Occupational Safety.

change in salary structure

If the new labor code is implemented with all the four changes, then people doing private jobs under the new wage code will get many benefits. Firstly, there will be a change in their salary structure. After the implementation of the new wage code, in hand salary will be less than before.

The government has made a provision in the new rule that the basic salary of any employee should be 50 percent or more of his total salary (CTC). If your basic salary is higher, then your contribution to FIF fund will be higher than before

This provision of the government will benefit the employees at the time of retirement, when they will get a hefty amount. Along with this, the Gratuity money will also get more. This means that your future will be financially strong.

weekly off

Under the new labor code, there is a provision for four days of work and three days of leave in a week. This means that you will have to go to the office four days a week and will get three days of weekly off. However, your working hours in the office will increase. After the implementation of this rule, if you opt for a three-day weekly holiday, then you will have to work 12 hours in the office. That is, you have to work 48 hours a week. After this you will get three days weekly off.

Change in the rule of long leave

Apart from this, there will be a big change regarding long holidays. Earlier, it was necessary to work at least 240 days in a year to take long-term leave in any institution. But after the implementation of the new labor code, any employee can take long leave after working 180 days (6 months).

full and final

Regarding full and final settlement, it has been said that employees will be paid their salary within two days of leaving the job, dismissal, retrenchment and resignation from the company. At present, most of the rules are applicable on the payment and settlement of wages. However, this does not include resignation.

The post New Wage Code: Government will give big gift to New Wage Code employees? check all details immediately first appeared on Rightsofemployees.com.

New Wage Code 2022 Implementation: New Wage Code can be implemented soon for the employees. After its implementation, everything from the salary of the employees to the pension is sure to be affected. Many such provisions have been made in this which is important for you to know.

Actually, it is being claimed in many media reports that the new wage code will be applicable from July 1, but till now no such announcement has been made by the government officially. And the biggest thing is whenever a policy is implemented, its notification is issued at least 15 days in advance. Therefore, there is no question of its implementation from 1st July. But it can be implemented soon. Let us know that after its implementation, who will be in profit and who will be in loss?

What is in the new wage code?

According to the Wage Code Act, 2019, the basic salary of an employee cannot be less than 50% of the cost of the company (CTC). At present, many companies reduce the basic salary and give more allowances from above so that the burden on the company is reduced. Let us know about its provisions.

Salary structure will change completely

With the implementation of the Wage Code Act, 2019, the salary structure of the employees will change completely. Employees’ (Take Home Salary) will decrease, because by increasing Basic Pay, employees’ PF will be deducted more, that is, their future will be more secure. Contribution to PF as well as Gratuity will increase. That is, take home salary will definitely decrease but The employee will get more amount on retirement.

Take home salary will decrease, retirement will improve

Due to the increase in Basic Pay, the PF of the employees will be deducted more, then their take-home salary will decrease. But, their future will be more secure. This will give more benefit on their retirement, as their contribution to Provident Fund (PF) and Monthly Gratuity will increase.

It will be difficult for companies

Let us tell you that the CTC of the employees depends on many factors. Like Basic Salary, House Rent (HRA), PF, Gratuity, LTC and Entertainment Allowance etc. With the implementation of the new wage code rule, companies will have to decide that the other factors to be included in the CTC except basic salary should not exceed 50 percent. This can increase the headache of companies.
