SBI Credit Card Policy Change: If you are an SBI credit card user and are taking advantage of the benefits of air accident insurance cover, then August 2025 is bringing an important change for you.

SBI Card is going to discontinue the free air accident insurance facility available on its major credit cards from August 11, 2025. This change will directly affect millions of public customers, especially those who depended on this facility for safety in air travel.

Will this insurance facility of these cards be discontinued?

Till now, many premium and co-branded credit cards of SBI used to offer complimentary (free) air accident insurance up to Rs 1 crore or Rs 50 lakh. This benefit will stop after 11 August 2025. The cards on which this facility is ending include

What does this change mean for you?

Now you will not get this extra protection during air travel. In such a situation, if you travel often and were dependent on free insurance for mental peace, then you may now have to take separate travel or personal accident insurance.

Experts advise that if this benefit is important for you, then definitely look at the individual travel or personal accident insurance policies available in the market.

All card holders are advised to read the new terms and conditions of their cards to understand which benefits are still available.

In case of any confusion or doubt, seek detailed information from SBI Card Customer Care.

Till now, in all the cards in this list, card holders used to get air accident insurance cover without any additional charge or application. In case of any accident during air travel, a cover of up to Rs 1 crore or Rs 50 lakh could be given directly to your family. This feature was considered a big feature of premium credit cards.

Why did SBI take such a decision?

Although SBI Card has not officially given the reason, this is a growing trend in the banking and finance industry. Many other banks are also gradually discontinuing such complimentary benefits or tightening their terms so that the benefits reach only a limited number of users and the banks’ costs are also controlled.
