The first Vande Bharat Sleeper Train in the country is ready to run. The first train of this kind will run between New Delhi and Kolkata’s Howrah station. Two train sets have been prepared for this. Now there are preparations to run this train on other routes as well, but there is not enough production for this. But now this complaint will also be resolved. Today, a Vande Bharat Sleeper Train factory has been started in Uttarpara, Kolkata.

Where is the factory located

The new factory of Vande Bharat Sleeper Train has been built in Uttarpara, Kolkata. It has been built jointly by Titagarh Rail Systems Limited (TRSL) and Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL). They have built a special production line for Vande Bharat Sleeper trains there. TRSL Vice Chairman and Managing Director Umesh Chaudhary and BHEL Director Bani Verma inaugurated this production line. TRSL has got a contract from Indian Railways to make 80 Vande Bharat Sleeper Train sets. This contract has been signed under an agreement between TRSL and BHEL.

When will the first train be made?

Work has now started at the Uttarpara unit. It is expected that the first train will be ready by next year. This factory has the features of Industry 4.0 and also has robot-operated production lines. This is the only place in the country where both stainless steel and aluminium coaches can be made under one roof. Industry 4.0 means that modern technology and automation are being used in the factory.

Designed in India itself

The sleeper version of Vande Bharat will be India’s first long distance, semi high-speed train. It has been completely designed in India. It will provide comfort to the passengers and will also have modern features for safety. The coaches of the train have been built in a modern way. It has smart systems and it runs on less power. This train will give a new experience of traveling between cities in India.

Currently being made in the same factory

At present, only BEML is manufacturing Vande Bharat Sleeper Train. BEML is a public sector undertaking of the Ministry of Defence. It has already been manufacturing coaches for the railways. It has manufactured the prototype set of Vande Bharat Sleeper Train. It was trialled by running it around Kota in Rajasthan . There are plans to run this train set on the New Delhi to Howrah route.

Speaking at the inauguration of the production line, Umesh Chaudhary, Vice Chairman and Managing Director, Titagarh Rail Systems said, “This is a proud moment for the Titagarh Rail Systems-BHEL team. The Vande Bharat Sleeper project is a great example of what can be achieved when the public and private sectors work together. It is a step towards ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’. This production line is our attempt to create future-ready mobility solutions and fulfil the dream of a connected and self-reliant India.”

Tender for 400 new Vande Bharat trains issued

Railways has issued tender for 400 new Vande Bharat trains. 4 big domestic and foreign companies have expressed interest in making this train. Please tell that out of these trains, the first 200 Vande Bharat trains will be made chair cars. These trains will be designed to run at a speed of 180 kmph. But keeping in view the safety on the track, they will be run at a speed of 130 kmph.

All trains will be ready in 2 years

Out of the new 400 Vande Bharat trains, 200 trains will be prepared for sleeper coaches. These trains made of aluminum will be designed to run at a speed of 220 km per hour. But their speed on the track will be maximum 200 kmph. All these 400 trains will be ready in the next 2 years.

Vande Bharat will replace Shatabdi and Rajdhani

On both the Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Kolkata railway routes, arrangements are being made to avoid train collisions at a cost of Rs 1,800 crore. For this, the railway track is being repaired and the signal system is being fixed. The chair car version of Vande Bharat trains will gradually replace the Shatabdi Express. While its sleeper version will come on track to replace Rajdhani Express.
