The process of filing Income Tax Return (ITR Filing) has started. 31 July 2023 is the last date to file ITR. In such a situation, if you have not yet filed your ITR, then file it as soon as possible.

Let us tell you that while filing income tax return, you need some important documents as well. Form 16 is very important for salaried people while filing ITR. Form 16 is given to the employed by their office. However, it is observed that employees whose taxable income does not exceed the basic exemption limit do not receive Form 16 from their employers. Also, there may be other cases when they will not issue it.

ITR can be filed without Form 16

However, even if you do not have Form 16, you do not need to worry as you can still file your income tax return without it. Experts say that you can file your ITR even without Form 16. Form 16 gives the details of TDS and TCS between the deductor and the tax deductee. Apart from this, it also tells about the income received in the form of salary along with different allowances and deductions. As per the rule, companies, offices or employers have to issue Form 16 every year on or before 15th June.

Form 16 is in two parts

Explain that there are two parts of Form 16. In Part A, there are details about the monthly deduction of several taxes from the salary of the employees by the office or the company. Whereas in its Part B, along with the salary given by the office, there are details of any other income and the tax deducted on it. Let us now know how we can file ITR without Form 16.

How to file ITR without Form 16

If you do not have Form 16, you can file ITR through your salary slip along with Form 26AS. One can download Form 26AS from TRACES website or through net banking of authorized bank. The salary slip contains the details of all the tax deductions along with the salary.

Apart from this, taxpayers should also ascertain that the extra income, deduction claimed on HRA, deduction under section 80C and 80D and other details have also been calculated. Tax payers can file their income tax return without Form 16 if the gross income, total deduction and total TDS are the same as shown in Form 26AS.

The post You can file your ITR even without Form 16, know its complete details first appeared on Rightsofemployees.com.

Standard Tax Deduction: A standard deduction is also available for pensioners and individuals. So that you can reduce the amount of tax. Through standard deduction, a certain amount is reduced from the taxable income. Due to which your tax amount also reduces.

While filing income tax return, you have to take care of very small things. You need to claim all the necessary deductions to reduce your taxable income. A standard deduction also exists for pensioners and individuals. So that you can reduce the amount of tax. Through standard deduction, a certain amount is reduced from the taxable income. Due to which your tax amount also reduces.

Standard deduction was stopped in the middle

Standard deduction was started in the year 1974 in India. But it was later closed. It was reintroduced in the 2018 Union Budget. Now it has been re-introduced for pensioners and salaried people. So that the tax liability is reduced. This time, in the financial year 2023-24, those who opt for the new tax regime will be given the benefit of this standard deduction.

How much is standard deduction

Standard deduction has been kept at fifty thousand rupees for the salaried. You can claim this even after the actual expenses incurred on medical allowance, transport allowance. Salaried include employees of private companies, government and non-profit organizations. Suppose your taxable income is Rs 100000 lakhs, then you can claim a deduction of Rs 50000 thousand. That is, now you will have to pay tax only on 50 thousand rupees. This deduction is not available to a self-employed person.

How to claim

You have to file your return on the Income Tax Department’s site. When you file ITR, then only you will have to enter the amount of standard deduction. That is, if you are also salaried, then you must take advantage of this standard deduction.

The post Standard Tax Deduction: You can save up to 50,000 taxable income with just one claim first appeared on Rightsofemployees.com.

Income Tax Return 2023: If you file income tax, then you should know these things first, otherwise you may have to pay a heavy fine. The last date for filing income tax return for the financial year 2022-2023 is July 31 and new ITR forms will be available for the year 2023-24 from April 1.

That is, it is very important for you to file ITR by July 31, 2023, after that you may have to pay Rs 5,000 as penalty for filing ITR. Explain that those who earn more than the basic exemption limit of Rs 2.5 lakh annually, they will have to submit their ITR before the deadline. However, persons having taxable income up to Rs 5 lakh who are eligible for exemption are exempted from paying tax. The government had extended the ITR reporting deadline from July 31 to September 30 last year due to various reasons. However, no date has been given yet for the extension of this year.

Have to pay this much penalty

If the deadline for filing ITR is missed, then you will have to pay Rs 5,000 as late fee under Section 234F of the Income Tax Act. If the total income is less than Rs.5 lakh then you will have to pay Rs.1000. On the other hand, if you submit your return after the deadline, you will have to pay interest under section 234A at the rate of 1% every month or a fraction of a month on the outstanding tax balance.

In this situation you can file belated return

If the ITR filing deadline passes unnoticed, you can file a belated return after the deadline. You will not be able to carry forward the loss for subsequent adjustments, but will still have to pay late fee and interest.

Can make up the difference with next year’s income

If you have incurred losses on investments in stocks, mutual funds, real estate, or any of your ventures, you can carry them forward and make up the difference with next year’s income. As a result, your tax liability will be greatly reduced. Adjustment of loss is allowed only if you include the declaration of loss in your ITR and submit it to the Income Tax Department by the due date.

Budget 2022-23: On February 1, 2023, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the budget. She is presenting this budget at a time when everyone is under the burden of inflation.

Especially the salaried people who are troubled by inflation, as well as the loan has also become expensive for them. Along with inflation, expensive EMI is robbing people’s pockets. Heavy tax burden on him. In such a situation, the question arises whether the Finance Minister will take any major step to give relief from inflation and reduce the tax burden on the people? Will the Finance Minister increase the income tax exemption limit from Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs 5 lakh in the upcoming budget?

Income tax burden on salaried people.

At present, those whose annual taxable income is up to Rs 2.5 lakh do not have to pay any tax on this income. Those whose income is between Rs 2.50 to Rs 5 lakh, then they are liable to pay tax at the rate of 5% i.e. Rs 12500. But under Rule 87A of Income Tax, the government gives a tax rebate of Rs 12,500. That is, those whose taxable income is less than Rs 5 lakh do not have to pay any tax.

But those whose taxable income is more than Rs 5 lakh by even one rupee, they do not get the benefit of this rebate. Such people are not only worried about inflation, but they are also worried about the cost of EMIs after increasing the repo rate of RBI. On top of that expensive food items, inflation of milk, expensive LPG, petrol-diesel and CNG-PNG have ruined the budget.

Tax exemption limit should be Rs 5 lakh!

According to Ved Jain, former president of ICAI, in 2014, the minimum tax slab limit was Rs 2.50 lakh and the maximum limit was Rs 10 lakh. But it has been so many years that no change has been made in the minimum and maximum level of the tax slab.

He said that now the time has come to give relief to the people by changing the income tax slab. He said that the income tax exemption limit should be increased from Rs 2.50 lakh to Rs 5 lakh annually. Also, the maximum limit of tax slab should be increased from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 20 lakh. Currently, taxable income above Rs 10 lakh is taxed at 30 per cent.

Changes in tax slabs will benefit the economy

According to Ved Jain, the Indian economy has developed tremendously after 2014. BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty have touched new heights. There has been a tremendous jump in the tax collection of the government. Consumption has also increased during this period. But there is one thing in which the government has not changed that is the income tax slab.

No change has been made in the tax slab during this period. He said that the government’s effort is to increase the tax base, due to which the number of people filing income tax returns has increased. This is the reason why the government has not made any change in the minimum slab rate of income tax. He said that if the government increases the tax slab, then taxpayers will spend the savings in the form of tax and invest in the purchase of essential things, which will benefit the economy. This will accelerate the economic development of the country.

Union Budget 2023 Expectations: The job profession waits the most for the Union budget for income tax exemption. The general budget will be presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on 1 February 2023.

Farmers and employed people have the highest expectations from this budget. At present, the limit of exemption from income tax is Rs 2.5 lakh. That is, a person earning up to two and a half lakh rupees annually does not have to pay any kind of tax. Like the last budget, the demand for increasing it is being made on behalf of crores of employed people this time also.

Income up to Rs 5 lakh is tax free!

However, tax rebate is available on taxable income ranging from Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs 5 lakh due to the exemption given under Section 87A. As per the rules, there is a provision to pay income tax on income above Rs 2.5 lakh. But the amount of tax made on income from Rs 2.5 to Rs 5 lakh is exempted under section 87A by the Ministry of Finance. In this way income up to 5 lakhs becomes tax free. But if your income is more than 5 lakhs, then you have to pay tax on the entire income above 2.5 lakhs.

Proposal to increase the income tax exemption limit to five lakhs

This is the reason why, like earlier, there is a demand to increase the income tax exemption limit from Rs.2.5 lakh to Rs.5 lakh. On behalf of the Associate Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM), a proposal has been given to the government to increase the income tax exemption limit from Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs 5 lakh. If this demand is accepted by the Finance Minister, then more money will come in your hands than before.

The announcement will be made on February 1, 2023.

In the recommendation sent to the Finance Ministry, Assocham has said that the limit of income tax exemption should be increased to at least Rs 5 lakh. This will save more money to spend in the hands of the common man. This will increase the buying capacity of the common man and the market will accelerate. If any kind of decision on income tax is taken by the Finance Ministry, then the Finance Minister will announce it only during the presentation of the budget on February 1, 2023.

Is it possible to increase income tax exemption

Assocham President Sumant Sinha had said during a conversation with the media in the past that a boom in both direct and indirect taxes would help in increasing the income tax exemption limit. Assocham Secretary General Deepak Sood said that leaving more money in the hands of customers will encourage consumption.
