Monday, March 16. The goal is simple. Actually, it’s about reducing the pressure on the commute. Now, with fuel lines growing and LPG stocks low, Zoho is playing it safe.

The “Critical” Only Rule

But not everyone gets to stay home. The policy has a catch. Look, it only applies to non-critical staff. Instead, those in essential roles must still show up. However, they need to talk to their managers first. In fact, the company is trying to keep the lights on while the rest of the country stays off the road.

The Zoho Plan:

• Start Date: Monday, March 16, 2026.

• Duration: Two weeks (initially).

• Who: Non-business-critical functions.

• Office Status: Open, but with “limited services.”

Cafeteria Blues Again

Since the LPG crunch is hitting everyone, Zoho’s offices are feeling it too. Next, expect smaller menus. The company warned that workplace facilities will stay open. But the cafeteria will run with a restricted menu. Actually, it’s the same story we saw at HCLTech and Infosys yesterday. So, even if you go to the office, don’t expect a full meal.

Why Now?

Look, the math is getting ugly. The war-related energy crisis is real. And it’s not just about cooking gas. Previously, we saw petrol prices jump. Now, the availability of all fuels is a mess. Indeed, commuting has become a logistical nightmare for thousands of techies. So, Zoho says this “temporary arrangement” will ease the travel pressure.

“The step is part of its broader responsibility,” the internal note said. Basically, the company wants to help staff manage transportation hurdles. Right.

A Growing Trend

Meanwhile, Zoho isn’t alone. After HCLTech and Infosys made similar moves, the industry is watching. Then there is the question of the 45-day LPG booking gap. Consequently, if people can’t cook at home or travel to work, remote work is the only fix. Doubt it will end in just two weeks if the Strait of Hormuz stays blocked.
