Indian Railways has changed the rules for carrying luggage in trains. Railways has said that the limit of carrying luggage is different for passengers traveling in each class.

Different limits have been set for carrying luggage from general bogie to AC first class. Railways has said that if passengers of each class carry luggage more than the limit set for them, then they will be fined.

Railways has said that different limits have been imposed for passengers travelling in general bogies, sleeper and AC bogies. However, Railways has also given some relaxations over and above the limit of carrying luggage. This additional relaxation is different for each class of bogie. If a passenger carries more luggage than the prescribed limit, he will be fined per kilogram.

What is the limit in general bogie?

If you are travelling in general bogie of the train, then the railway has set a limit of 35 kg for this. This means that a passenger can travel with a weight of up to 35 kg with his ticket. In this class, the railway also gives an additional discount of 10 kg. In this sense, a passenger is allowed to carry a weight of up to 45 kg. If the luggage is more than this, the railway can impose a fine of Rs 10 to Rs 50 per kg.

What is the limit in Sleeper and Third AC?

Railways have kept the limit of carrying luggage same for Sleeper and Third AC classes. Passengers travelling in both the classes are allowed to carry up to 40 kg of weight. Apart from this, Railways also allows carrying additional weight up to 10 kg. In this way, passengers travelling in Sleeper and Third AC can carry up to 50 kg of weight with them. A fine can be imposed for carrying more weight than this.

What is the limit in Second and First AC?

Railways has fixed the limit for carrying luggage in Second and First AC classes as well. In Second AC, one can travel with up to 50 kg of luggage. Apart from this, per passenger is also allowed to carry 10 kg extra luggage. In this way, every passenger can carry more than 60 kg of weight in Second AC. Similarly, in First AC also Railways has fixed the weight limit of 70 kg per passenger. Apart from this, per passenger is allowed to carry additional weight of up to 15 kg. In this way, up to 85 kg of weight can be carried per passenger.

Indian Railway General Ticket Rules: Every day crores of people travel by train in India. Train is a means of travel that people of every class can afford. While some people travel in reserved coaches according to their budget, some people travel in unreserved coaches.

To travel in reserved coaches, booking has to be done in advance and these include options like First AC, Second AC, Third AC, AC Chair Car, Sleeper and Second Sitting. On the other hand, unreserved coaches include General Coach.

Railways will make these changes in the rules of general ticket

To travel in general coach, you do not need to buy the ticket much in advance. You can travel in the train by directly going to the railway station and buying a general ticket. Every day a large number of passengers travel in general coaches. But now the railway is thinking of changing the rules of general ticket, which will affect crores of passengers. Let us know what changes the railway is going to make in the general ticket and what effect it will have on the passengers.

Recently, there was a stampede like situation at New Delhi Railway Station due to the huge crowd of passengers. Many people lost their lives in this accident caused by the chaos at the station. After this tragic accident, the railway administration is planning to bring new rules to make the general ticket system more streamlined.

Names of trains can also be entered in general tickets

Let us tell you that at present, passengers with general tickets can easily change trains. However, under the upcoming changes, names of trains can also be entered in general tickets. This means that once the name of the train is entered on the ticket, passengers will not be able to change the train.

Validity of general ticket

Do you know that the general ticket issued by the railways comes with a validity period. According to the rules of the railways, the validity of a general ticket is only three hours. That is, if you do not start your journey within three hours after buying a general ticket, then that ticket becomes invalid i.e. non-valid. Which means that after three hours have passed, travel cannot be done on that ticket.

The aim of the Railways behind introducing these changes in the rules of general tickets is to ensure the safety of passengers and make the journey more comfortable. However, the official announcement of the new rules can be made soon by the Railway Ministry.

Indian Railway Facts: Every day lakhs of people travel by train in the country. The reason for such high number of passengers is that traveling by railway is cheaper. Besides, speed trains also save time. Keeping in mind the convenience of the passengers, many types of facilities are provided by the Railways.

The train has facilities of First AC, Second AC, Third AC, Sleeper and General coach according to different classes. But this question must have come to your mind at some time or the other that if the air conditioner of the AC coach of the train remains switched off in winter, then why does the Railways charge the passengers for AC? Let us tell.

Actually, the AC coach of the train is kept cool during the summer season and warm during the winter. During summer the outside temperature is around 45 degrees Celsius. During this period the temperature inside the AC coach is kept between 20-25 degrees Celsius. Similarly, during winter days the outside temperature remains around 4-8 degrees Celsius. At this time the temperature inside the AC coach is kept at 17-21 degrees Celsius.

AC coach fare is expensive

You must be aware that the fare of AC coach in the train is costlier than sleeper and general coach. The reason for this is the AC and other facilities installed in the coach. Let us tell you that the AC coaches of the train are air conditioned. Train coaches are not air cooled. This means that the AC of the train keeps the entire coach cool in summer and warm in winter.

Actually, to maintain the temperature during cold weather, the heater installed in the AC is turned on. Also, by running the blower, hot air is supplied to the entire box. It is known that the heater of the AC coach of the train is of a special type. This is the reason why passengers do not complain of dry skin even after staying in the heater all night.

You must have noticed that the room heaters installed in our homes cause dry skin. In this way, it is now completely clear that the AC installed in trains is working even in winters. This is the reason why the Railways charges the full fare from the passengers.
