UPI Circle: A step-by-step guide to add family members, make payments

UPI Circle: Now making digital payments has become even easier. NPCI’s company NBSL has launched a new feature in the BHIM app – UPI Circle. With its help, you can allow a trusted member of your family such as parents, children or anyone else to make payments from your UPI account. But keep in mind that every payment will be made only with your approval.

What is UPI Circle?

In UPI Circle, you can choose 5 people to whom you will give permission to make payments from your account. But when they make the payment, you will get a notification in the BHIM app and you will have to enter your UPI PIN and approve it. That means you can have complete control over every transaction.

How to use?

Download the new BHIM app (Version 4.0.2) on your phone.
Open the app and go to the UPI Circle section.
Click on Add Secondary User and enter his/her UPI ID or scan the QR.
Choose how to allow payments – approval will be required each time.
A request will go to the other person. He will accept it, then he can make the payment and you will approve it.

How will the elderly benefit?

If your parents or grandparents hesitate to make digital payments, you can add them to UPI Circle. Whenever they make a payment, you can approve it. This will save them from hassle and make their work easier.

It is also great for kids

You can give your children limited access for school fees or pocket money. They will be able to make payments through the BHIM app, but nothing will happen without your approval.

Some important things

A secondary user can spend up to Rs 5,000 at a time.

You can set a monthly limit of up to Rs 15,000.

Even if the secondary user does not have his own bank account, he can still make payment through you.

Reserve Bank of India Governor Shaktikanta Das on Friday launched the UPI Circle feature at the Global Fintech Festival (GFF), 2024. While launching this feature, Shaktikanta Das said that through this feature, now two people can easily do UPI from one bank account. The introduction of this feature will increase digital payments.

Now NPCI has added ‘UPI Circle’ feature in UPI. In this feature, those users can also use UPI whose bank account is not linked to UPI. In this article, we will give you every information about UPI Circle.

What is UPI Circle?

UPI Circle is a feature in which users can make UPI payments even without a bank account. This feature will prove to be very beneficial for those users who do not use online banking.

For payment through UPI Circle, the user will only need mobile number and OTP. With this feature, family or friends will also get the facility of financial transactions.

How does UPI Circle work

There are primary users and secondary users in a UPI circle. The user who has a UPI ID is called the primary user, while those who are linked to the UPI circle are called secondary users. Secondary users can also easily avail the facility of UPI payment.

Understand it like this that the primary user gives the power to use UPI to the secondary user. He can easily make payments from the primary user’s account. The primary user gives permission to the secondary user whether he can make partial or full UPI payment or not.

NPCI UPI Delegated Payment Launch: To make UPI transactions easier for customers, NPCI on Wednesday launched a new feature UPI Delegated Payment. In this UPI Delegated Payment feature, you can add your loved ones to the UPI circle.

In which you can do full or partial delegation. In full delegation, the secondary user will not need the authorization of the primary user at the time of any payment, while in partial delegation, the secondary user will need the security pin of the primary user on every payment.

NPCI launched Bharat Bill Pay For Business

To further strengthen the traders in the country, NPCI has also launched Bharat Bill Pay for Business. Which will give two businesses the power to deal with each other.

In this, every business will have a B2B ID, which will contain the necessary details of the business. By entering this ID on any business platform, all the details of that business will be fetched, through which a business will be able to send a bill to another business, which will accept or pay the bill. This is a completely secure system, which will end the hassle of Invoice Reconciliation.

UPI transactions expected to reach 439 billion by 2028-29

Total transactions on UPI are expected to grow from around 131 billion last fiscal to 439 billion by 2028-29 and account for 91 per cent of total retail digital payments, a PwC India report has estimated.

The report titled ‘The Indian Payments Handbook – 2024-29’ also said that India’s digital payments landscape has seen significant growth over the last eight years and the industry estimates that the volume will expand more than three times. Digital payments are projected to grow from 159 billion in 2023-24 to 481 billion by FY 2028-29.

The growth of the payment transaction market in terms of value is expected to double. It will grow from Rs 265 lakh crore to Rs 593 lakh crore during this period.
