The Transport Department has directed to update the mobile number in the vehicle registration certificate and driving license by March 31. The mobile number should be linked to Aadhaar. After this, if the number is not updated…

The Transport Department has directed to update the mobile number registered in the Vehicle Registration Certificate (RC) and Driving License (DL) by March 31. This mobile number should be linked to Aadhaar. After March 31, the department will charge a fine if the Aadhaar linked mobile number is not updated. Even then, if the mobile number is not updated, the vehicle’s registration number will be cancelled.

It has been told that insurance, pollution and fitness certificates of vehicles of those whose mobile number is not updated on RC will not be issued. Under this decision, necessary changes will be made in the vehicle software so that pollution and fitness certificates can be issued only after the mobile number is updated.

2.13 lakh mobile numbers not tagged in Muzaffarpur:

In a letter issued by the Transport Department, it has been stated that it has been made mandatory for all vehicle owners of the state to update their Aadhaar-linked mobile numbers to avail the benefits of contactless services. In Muzaffarpur, 2.13 lakh vehicle owners have not yet tagged their Aadhaar-linked mobile numbers with the RC. Only 13 days are left for them now.

24 lakh mobile numbers are not updated in the state:

In the departmental review, it has been found that from the year 2014 to 2025, about 24 lakh vehicle owners in the state including Muzaffarpur have not updated their mobile numbers linked to Aadhaar. Due to this, they are unable to take advantage of contactless services. To update the mobile number, the mobile number linked to Aadhaar will have to be given. The update facility is available on the Transport Service Portal.

Information regarding e-challan is not available:

Due to the mobile number registered in the RC and DL not being updated, there is a problem in identifying the vehicle owner or driver in case of an accident or other adverse situation. Along with this, the information of e-challan issued for violation of traffic rules is also not received on their mobile.

How to update your mobile number:

Step 1 – vahan.parivahan.gov/vahaneservice

Step 2 – Select your respective district and proceed

Step 3 – Select the option to update mobile number (Aadhaar based)

Step 4 – Then enter the vehicle registration number, chassis number, engine number, registration date and fitness valid date

Step 5: Enter the Aadhaar number, then enter the name as per Aadhaar and enter the mobile number linked with Aadhaar. After this, a message regarding updating of mobile number will be sent to your mobile.

The Bihar government has given a big gift to the common man in the state. In the cabinet meeting chaired by the state CM Nitish Kumar, it has been decided to cut the registration fee of vehicles.

In such a situation, now the people of Bihar will not have to go to other states to buy a vehicle. This decision has been taken to promote the purchase and registration of vehicles in Bihar. Earlier the registration fee of vehicles in Bihar was much higher than other states. In such a situation, many people preferred to buy vehicles from other states. Due to this, the Bihar government was suffering a huge loss.

31 proposals have been approved in the cabinet meeting held on 21 August 2024 under the chairmanship of state CM Nitish Kumar. Registration of new vehicles in Bihar will not have much impact on your pocket. Nitish cabinet has approved the proposal to reduce the registration charge of bikes, autos, cabs etc.

How much registration fee will be charged on which vehicle?

Now in Bihar, instead of Rs 1500, Rs 1150 will have to be paid for registration of a motorcycle. Registration fee for auto has been reduced from Rs 5650 to Rs 1150. Registration fee for cabs has also been reduced drastically. Earlier, Rs 23650 had to be paid for registering a cab. Now it has been reduced to just Rs 4150. Instead of Rs 23,650, only Rs 4,150 will be charged for cabs. This decision of Nitish Cabinet is expected to increase the sale of vehicles in Bihar. Also, people will get a chance to buy cheap vehicles in their own state.

Corporation employees will get seventh pay scale

In the cabinet meeting, it has been decided to give the benefit of seventh pay scale to the employees of the municipal corporation. This financial benefit will be applicable from 1 April 2017. The financial benefit will be given from the resources of the municipal body.

94 lakh girls aged between 9 to 14 years in Bihar will be given human papima virus vaccine to prevent cervical cancer. CM Balika Cancer Immunization Scheme has been approved. Cabinet Additional Chief Secretary Dr. S Siddharth has given this information.

New Delhi: Opinion has been shared regarding increasing the speed limit of trains in the annual meeting of Transport Development Council. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is asking the state governments to revisit the speed limit restrictions in urban and semi-urban parts to provide smooth traffic movement.

The 41st Transport Development Council (TDC) meeting was held in Bengaluru last month where the Director (MVL), MoRTH made a brief presentation on the status of implementation of the Motor Vehicles Act in the states. The State Governments are being encouraged to revisit the speed limit restrictions in urban and semi-urban parts to provide seamless traffic movement, it said.

He also laid special emphasis on the benefits that are likely to accrue on full implementation of the reforms by the States/UTs, i.e. promoting seamless mobility across the country, greater safety for drivers and passengers and promotion of online services and ease of doing business. All such things were emphasized.

In favor of doing 140 kmph

Recently Nitin Gadkari had said that he is in favor of increasing the maximum speed limit on the expressway to 140 kmph. Gadkari said the speed limit on national highways should be at least 100 kmph on four-lane roads, while the respective speed limits for two-lane roads and city roads should be 80 kmph and 75 kmph.

Apart from this, the minutes of the Annual Meeting of the Transport Development Council also revealed that 24 states and union territories have started the New Bharat Series (BH-series) for vehicle registration.

In August last year, the government notified a new vehicle registration regime that would exempt vehicle owners from the re-registration process when they move from one state or union territory to another.
