According to the Meteorological Department, pressure is formed over the central parts of North Rajasthan and a low pressure area is formed over North Jharkhand and adjoining South Bihar. Due to these seasonal activities, heavy to very heavy rains may occur in many parts of the country.

IMD has predicted that very heavy rains may occur in Rajasthan, eastern and adjoining central India in the next 3 to 4 days. According to the Meteorological Department, the pressure area in and around Jharkhand has moved in the west-northwest direction which has weakened and turned into a low pressure area.

According to the India Meteorological Department, the low pressure area over central parts of northern Rajasthan is slowly moving in the west-northwest direction. It has turned into a pressure area. Due to seasonal activities, heavy to very heavy rains are expected in many areas including Bihar, Chhattisgarh, coastal Karnataka, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Kerala and Mahe, Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Odisha, Rajasthan in the coming days.

According to the IMD, moderate to heavy rains accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning are likely to continue at many places in Northeast India during the next 7 days. Heavy rains are likely at some places over Assam and Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram and Tripura during July 16 and July 19 to 21.

Heavy to very heavy rains are likely at some places over Kerala and Mahe, Tamil Nadu, coastal and south interior Karnataka during July 16 to 21. Very heavy rains are likely at some places over north interior Karnataka on July 16.

• Light rains may occur over Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, East Gujarat, Lakshadweep and Andaman and Nicobar Islands with moderate rains at one or two places.

Thunderstorms continue in Northeast India

According to IMD, light to moderate rain may occur in Northeast India during the next 7 days.
Thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds with a speed of 40 to 50 kmph are likely along with the rain.
Heavy rain is likely at isolated places in Assam and Meghalaya during 22 to 27 May.
Heavy to very heavy rains are likely in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura till 25 May.

IMD issued warning

Heavy to very heavy rains are expected over East Central and South-East Arabian Sea and Kerala, Karnataka, Konkan and Goa and adjoining South Gujarat coast and Lakshadweep area. The Meteorological Department has advised fishermen not to go to these areas during 22 to 26 May. During this period, fishing will be completely closed in East Central and adjoining North-East Arabian Sea. Fishermen have been advised not to go to Somalia coast and adjoining South-West Arabian Sea during 22 to 26 May.
