Waiting Ticket Rules: Every day more than 2.5 crore passengers travel by train in India. Let us tell you that this number of passengers is equal to the population of a country like Australia.

Passengers traveling by train have the option of traveling in reservation or unreserved coach. Generally, passengers prefer to travel by train through reservation. In which they get the facility to travel in AC coach and sleeper coach.

Many times after making reservations, people’s tickets go into waiting list. And they get to know only a few hours before the day of travel whether their ticket is confirmed or not. In such a situation, they have to face a lot of trouble. But now Indian Railways has found a solution to this. Let us tell you that the Railways has now decided to change the rules regarding the waiting list.

You will know several hours in advance whether you will get a seat or not

Let us tell you that Indian Railways has now decided to implement a new rule regarding the waiting ticket timing. At present, people get to know the status of ticket confirmation 4 hours in advance. Now it will be known 24 hours in advance. Let us tell you that this pilot project has been started by the Railways at Bikaner Railway Station in Rajasthan as a trial run. Which has also been successful. According to the information received from the Railways, this will soon be implemented in the rest of the country as well.

Passengers will get time to choose the option

The final chart of a train is prepared by the Indian Railways 4 hours before its departure. That is, if someone has a waiting list ticket for a train, he will not know until the day of travel whether he can travel in the train or not. In such a situation, the passenger is unable to choose any other option. For example, he misses the option of traveling by bus or cab.

The new rule will soon be implemented on these routes as well

On the suggestion of Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, the trial run of this rule was started by the Railways on Bikaner Division. The result of which has been very good. Now soon it can be implemented on other major routes of the country including Delhi, Bihar, Bengal and Mumbai.

Waiting Ticket Railway Rules: Every day, crores of passengers travel by train in India. Thousands of trains are run by the railways for these passengers. Most of the passengers traveling by train prefer to travel by making reservations.

But not all passengers get a confirmed seat. Many times, the tickets of many passengers go into waiting list.

If you also travel a lot by train. And sometimes your ticket also goes into waiting. Then this news is for you. Let us tell you that the railways have changed the rules for traveling on waiting tickets. Now if passengers with waiting tickets do this, then they will have to pay a hefty fine. Let us tell you what has changed in the rules.

Rules changed for waiting ticket passengers

Indian Railways used to allow passengers travelling with waiting tickets to board sleeper and AC coaches and travel. But now the Railways has changed the rules for this. Now any passenger with a waiting ticket will be able to travel in a reserved coach. That is, if someone has made a reservation.

And the ticket has gone into waiting list. Then you can neither travel in sleeper nor in any AC coach. If you travel in sleeper and AC coach. Then you will have to pay a hefty fine. Not only this, the TTE can catch you and throw you out of sleeper and AC coach.

You will have to pay this much fine

If you travel on a waiting ticket and you enter a reserved coach, then for this you have to pay a fine according to the coach. If you travel in an AC coach on a waiting ticket, then you have to pay a fine of Rs 440 and the fare till the next station. If you are caught in a sleeper coach, then you have to pay a fine of Rs 250 and the fare till the next station.

In Rajya Sabha, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav answered the question asked about waiting tickets. In response to a written question, he said that travelling in reserved coach with waiting ticket is unauthorized. However, he also said that railway pass does not have the details of such passengers.

Indian Railway Waiting Ticket: Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav answered the question asked about waiting tickets in Rajya Sabha. In response to a written question, he said that traveling in reserved coach with waiting ticket is unauthorized. However, he also said that the railway pass does not have the details of such passengers. Traveling in reservation and AC coach with waiting ticket is not valid. After this statement of the Railway Minister, questions started arising in the minds of the people that is it no longer possible to travel by train with waiting ticket? Will the waiting ticket taken from the counter also become invalid now? We are telling the answers to some such questions.

According to the 2010 circular of the Railways, only persons with confirmed and partially confirmed (RAC) seats can travel in reserved coaches. That is, if you have a confirmed ticket or your waiting ticket has become RAC, then you can travel comfortably by sitting on your seat in the reservation coach of the train.

Can I travel with a waiting ticket purchased from the counter?

Often this question arises in the minds of people that if they have bought a ticket from the ticket counters of the railway station, can they travel in the train with that waiting ticket. Let us tell you that the ticket of the passenger with waiting list from IRCTC gets automatically cancelled in case of e-ticket. At the same time, passengers can travel only in general coaches by taking counter waitlist tickets. That is, you cannot travel in reserved coaches with counter waiting. Let us tell you that no change has been made in the rules of railways regarding waiting tickets.

Rules regarding waiting ticket

If you board a reserved coach with a waiting ticket, you will be charged the fare from the point where the train started to the point where the TTE caught you, along with a fine of Rs 440. Apart from this, the TT can also make you get off mid-way. According to the Railway’s 2010 circular, one can travel in reserved i.e. sleeper or AC coaches only with confirmed and RAC tickets.

Types of waiting tickets

There are many types of waiting lists for railway tickets. These are as follows: GNWL RLWL PQWL TQWL RSWL RAC
