If you are a content creator, that is, you earn from YouTube and other social media platforms, then there is very important news for you regarding income tax return.

According to the news of livehindustan, now all the people earning from social media, YouTube, F&O trading, commission agency, betting or stock trading will have to enter a new code while filing ITR. Complete details of income will have to be given in Form ITR-3 or ITR-4. Actually, the Income Tax Department has made changes in Form ITR-3 or ITR-4. Five new professional codes have been included in these.

Know who are social media influencers

After the changes made by the Income Tax Department, a new code 16021 has been created for social media influencers. This is for those who earn money by promoting, advertising or creating digital content on social media. According to the income slab, they will have to fill ITR-3 or ITR-4 form. According to section 44ADA of Income Tax, ITR-4 form has to be filled to avail tax exemption on estimated income.

Understand the complete list of codes here

Commission Agent – 09029

Social Media Influencer – 16021

Speculative Trading – 21009

Futures Option Trader (F&O) – 21010

Buying and Selling of Shares – 21011

Those who are stock market traders should know this

According to the news, a new code 21010 has been fixed for stock market traders (F&O). Such traders will have to give details of their income, profit and loss in Form-3. Earlier, taxpayers of this category used to file ITR in other categories. With the introduction of new codes, the categories of people earning in different ways will be decided. This will help the department to deal with those trying to save tax. It will become easier to keep an eye on professionals earning more.

YouTube is now making a major change to its monetization policy, which will crack down on creators who repeatedly create the same or machine-like content. The change will come into effect from July 15 and is aimed at identifying videos that are not original and are made just to get views.

YouTube is now making a major change to its monetization policy, which will crack down on creators who repeatedly create the same or machine-like content. The change will come into effect from July 15 and is aimed at identifying videos that are not original and are made just to get views.

Original content must be promoted…

The Google-owned platform has shared information on a help page that the process of identifying and evaluating “mass-produced” and “repetitive” content under the YouTube Partner Program (YPP) will now be made even more rigorous. The company says that YouTube has always promoted original and authentic content, and this policy is another step in that direction.

What are YouTube’s new terms?

YouTube’s Monetization Policy already makes it clear that all creators who earn money from YouTube must have original content. The new policy places special emphasis on two things:

Originality of content: Someone else’s content cannot be used without major changes. Even if it is taken, it must be modified to the extent that it looks new and is your own.

Repetitive content prohibited: Videos made in the same template, repeated over and over again, and videos made solely for the purpose of getting views will now be suspect in the eyes of YouTube. This includes low-effort content, clickbait thumbnails, and videos made without a sense of education or entertainment.

Will AI content also come on the radar?

Although YouTube did not mention it directly, given current trends, it is believed that AI-generated videos that include sound or feedback without human input may also fall under this new stricture.

Quality content will now be more important for making money…

Under YouTube’s policy, there are already some minimum requirements for monetization such as having at least 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 valid public watch hours in the last 12 months or 10 million valid shorts views in the last 90 days. Now even after meeting these requirements, the quality and originality of the content will decide whether the creator will get paid or not.

This move by YouTube is a warning to all those who were hoping to earn more with less effort. Now only hard work, creativity and original content will survive on this platform.

If you also earn from the stock market on YouTube and Instagram, then this news can prove to be useful for you. Actually, nowadays every second person on social media calls himself an influencer.

There are many people who call themselves influencers on social media and keep giving stock market tips and stock recommendations. If you also give stock recommendations on social media, then you need to be careful. Because SEBI has taken action against such people.

In fact, in the year 2024, action has been taken against many such people who have misled people about the stock market and given tips. One of these influencers has also been recently taken action against. Not only this, SEBI has also banned more than 15000 websites that create similar content.

SEBI took action

According to reports of Economics Times, SEBI has taken the biggest action this year against those who mislead and give wrong information in the name of investment in the stock market. SEBI has banned more than 15,000 sites and many financial influencers. These people are accused of giving wrong information to people using social media. This not only misleads people but also causes huge losses to them. Let us tell you, investment in the stock market is subject to market risks. If you want to make any investment, then you must first take the advice of your financial advisor.

Baap of the Charts

In its action this year, SEBI has banned finfluencers Ravindra Balu Bharti and Nasiruddin Ansari. Ansari was active on social media platform X (earlier Twitter) under the name ‘Baap of Chart’, where he often advised people to buy and sell shares. When the matter reached SEBI, SEBI ordered Ansari and his associates to open an escrow account and deposit Rs 17 crore. SEBI also said that this money will be used to return the money of those investors who have lost money due to their advice. Apart from this, a fine of Rs 20 lakh has also been imposed on Ansari.

Nowadays, in the era of YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, even children are earning lakhs. However, in our country, making children work i.e. child labour is considered illegal. But these methods do not come under child labour.

Children are earning a lot of money through these methods nowadays. Just like tax is collected from an adult according to his earnings. Is there any tax liability on the earnings of children as per the income tax slab? Let us know what is the rule of tax on the earnings of children.

Children have two types of income (Children have two types of income)

First of all, we have to understand that a child can have two types of income, Earned and Unearned Income. The income that the child has earned himself is called Earned Income. For example, the child may have earned money with the help of his YouTube page, Instagram account or any talent hunt show.

The second income is that which the child has not earned himself, but he has ownership rights over that income. This is called unearned income. For example, if any property, shares or any other investment is made in the name of the child, then the income that the child gets from it will be considered unearned income.

What is the income tax rule on children’s earnings

Section 64 (1A) of the Income Tax Act states that if a child earns money, he does not have to pay tax on his own income. The child’s income will be added to the income of the parents as per their tax slab. Then the parent in whose income the child’s income is added has to pay income tax as per the prescribed tax slab.

There will be no tax on earnings up to Rs 1500

According to Section 10(32) of the Income Tax Act, if a child earns up to Rs 1500 per year, then no tax is levied on it. That is, his income is tax free. If the child earns more than this every year, then the income above this is considered taxable by adding it to the income of his parents under Section 64(1A).

If both parents earn, then whose income will the child’s earnings be clubbed with?

If both the parents of the child earn, then tax is calculated by adding the child’s income to the income of the one who has higher income. If a child wins a lottery, then 30% TDS is deducted directly on the winning amount. A 10% surcharge is levied on this TDS and 4% cess is also to be paid.

What will happen if the parents are divorced?

If the child’s parents are divorced, then the child’s income is clubbed with the income of the parent who has custody of the child. On the other hand, if the child is an orphan, then ITR can be filed in the name of the child.

If the child is suffering from any disability mentioned in Section 80U and the disability is more than 40%, then the child’s earnings are not clubbed with the income of his/her parents.

YouTube: The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has sent a memorandum to several digital platforms in an effort to crack down on online “misinformation” ahead of the upcoming Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.

The government has issued instructions for the video streaming platform YouTube. In these instructions issued by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), platforms have been asked to initiate legal measures against fake news channels and put disclaimers on those channels. Let us tell you that recently the government has also issued a warning to social media platforms to remove content related to child sexual abuse in India.

Government issues instructions to several digital platforms

In an effort to crack down on “misinformation” online ahead of the upcoming Assembly and Lok Sabha elections, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has sent a memorandum to several digital platforms. According to IANS, the government also advised that a disclaimer should also be shown on these channels to counter the menace of fake news.
