On this day in 1975, Sikkim officially became the 22nd state of India and Gangtok was declared its capital. The day is a symbol of pride and unity for the people of the state. Various cultural programmes, tableaus, patriotic songs and public awareness campaigns are organised on Gangtok Day, which showcase the rich heritage and development of Sikkim.
