The government has issued a new order regarding updation in Aadhar card. For this, some amendments have been made in the rules of Aadhaar. This amendment has been named the Aadhaar (Enrolment and Update) (10th Amendment) Regulations, 2022. The government has issued a notification of this amendment. According to the new rule, now it will be mandatory for you to update the Aadhar card once in 10 years.

You have to update Proof of Identity and Address Proof. The government has made it mandatory to update Aadhaar by issuing guidelines. According to the amendment, on completion of 10 years from the day the enrollment for the Aadhaar number was made, the Aadhaar cardholder will have to update the Aadhaar at least once by submitting a proof of identity and proof of address.

In this regard, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), the agency of Aadhaar, has said that those who have got the Aadhaar card made 10 years ago and have not updated it even once, should submit it with their identity card and address proof. Updating is necessary.

Why would you have to update Aadhaar?

According to the new rule, it will be mandatory to update Aadhaar once in 10 years. For this, UIDAI, the authority of Aadhaar, has issued new guidelines. The new rule states that the proof of identity and address proof will have to be updated in Aadhaar. So far, Aadhar cards have been made for 135 crore people in the country. The government started making Aadhar cards in 2010. The old addresses have become invalid due to the change of state of many people in 12 years. The old addresses of people living in rented houses have become invalid. Service delivery will stop if Aadhaar is not updated.

According to the UIDAI, in the last 10 years, the Aadhaar number has emerged as the most robust identity proof of the person, which is being used today for many important tasks. With the help of Aadhaar in government schemes, many benefits are available. Its role in banking service has also become important. For continuous, uninterrupted benefits of schemes and services, Aadhaar number needs to be updated. If the Aadhaar documents are updated, then there will be no problem in the authentication or verification of the Aadhaar number.

UIDAI has given complete information about updating Aadhaar and its fee. The agency says that the facility to update any document in the Aadhaar number is provided with a fixed fee. The type of update that the cardholder wants to make in Aadhaar can be done by paying a fee. In the Aadhaar number, the cardholder can update the Proof of Personal Identity (POI) and Proof of Address (POA) documents in the Aadhaar data. This facility can be availed online on My Aadhaar Portal (https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/). Residents can also visit any nearest enrollment center to avail this facility.
