On June 12, Air India flight AI 171, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, crashed shortly after take-off. Many passengers and people on the ground lost their lives in this tragic accident. On Saturday, Air India informed that interim compensation of Rs 25 lakh has been started to be given to the families of the deceased and surviving passengers. This assistance amount is being given to provide financial and emotional support to the affected families.

Air India Compensation: Central Helpdesk is helping

To help families process the documents, Air India has started a centralized helpdesk from June 15. It is working like a single-window system to speed up the compensation process. Air India has also deployed a team of psychologists and doctors in Ahmedabad. This team includes trauma counselors, nurses and pharmacists, who are providing mental, emotional and health support to the affected families and the injured.

Contact with the families of those killed on the ground

Air India said that it is also in touch with the families whose relatives died in this accident on the ground. They are also being helped in providing compensation, DNA identification, transport of bodies and arranging for the last rites. An Air India representative is also present with each family so that the entire process can be done in a respectful manner.

Air India will also bear the travel, medical and funeral expenses

Not just compensation, Air India is also bearing the entire cost of travel, accommodation, medical care and funeral. If the families need any additional help, it is being done on a case-by-case basis. This step is a symbol of Air India’s condolences and support to the affected families. The company has assured that every possible help will be given to the families in this difficult time.
