Bharat Bandh: A big general strike has been called across the country on 9 July 2025. In which more than 25 crore employees working in banking, insurance, coal mining, postal, highway, transport, construction and many other important sectors will participate.
This strike is being organized by the platform of 10 central labor organizations and their affiliate organizations. Its purpose is to protest against the anti-labor, anti-farmer and anti-national policies of the central government.
Which services will be affected?
Many essential services of the country may be affected due to the strike:
- Work at bank and insurance offices disrupted
- Delay in postal services
- Production halted in coal mining and steel industry
- Operations in state transport and factories affected
- Work on construction and infrastructure projects slows down
- Harbhajan Singh Sidhu of Hind Mazdoor Sabha warned that this strike could badly affect the normal services across the country.
Who is supporting the strike?
- According to Amarjit Kaur of All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC), more than 25 crore workers can join this strike.
- Employees of NMDC Limited, other mineral and steel companies
- Employees of State Government Departments and Public Sector Undertakings
- United Kisan Morcha and agricultural labor organizations have also given support.
