DA Latest Update: DA is going to increase in few hours, know how much salary will increase

There is good news for Central government employees and pensioners. The government is going to give them the gift of Holi. There is a cabinet meeting tomorrow i.e. on March 1.

In this, dearness allowance (DA) of central employees can be approved. It is believed that the allowance of central employees can be increased by four percent. At present, central employees get 38 per cent DA, which can be increased to 42 per cent. This will benefit more than one crore central employees and pensioners. The increased allowance will be applicable from January 1, 2023.

That is, he will get two months’ arrears of DA in the salary of March. The government hikes the DA of its employees twice a year. Dearness Allowance for employees and pensioners is calculated on the basis of the Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) released by the Labor Bureau every month. The Labor Bureau is a part of the Ministry of Labour.

Earlier, DA was increased by four percent from July 1, after which it increased to 38 percent. According to Shiv Gopal Mishra, general secretary of the All India Railwaymen’s Federation, the CPI-IW for December 2022 was released on January 31, 2023. Accordingly, the increase in dearness allowance works out to 4.23 per cent.

How much will the salary increase

now, if the basic salary of an employee is Rs 1,8000, then according to 38 percent, he gets Rs 6,840 DA. If the DA becomes 42 per cent, the employee will get Rs 7,560 as dearness allowance. That means he will get Rs 720 more. That is, according to the year, there will be a benefit of Rs 8,640. Similarly, if the basic salary of a government employee is Rs 56,000, then dearness allowance at the rate of 38 per cent is Rs 21,280. After a four per cent increase, it will become Rs 23,520. There will be an annual benefit of Rs 26,880.
