Delhi Metro Phase 5A: Great news for Delhiites. Construction of the RK Ashram to Indraprastha Metro corridor has officially begun, further strengthening connectivity in the national capital.
This highly significant corridor, being built under Phase 5A of the Delhi Metro, is expected to cost a massive ₹12,000 crore. This new route is being developed as an extension of the Delhi Metro’s Magenta Line, spanning a total length of approximately 9.913 kilometers. The project received Cabinet approval in December 2025, and work on the ground is now visible.
Here’s the complete station list
According to officials, construction work has begun rapidly at four major stations on this new route. These include Shivaji Stadium, Yuge Yugin Bharat, Central Secretariat, and Kartavya Bhawan stations. The entire corridor’s station route includes a total of 10 proposed stations. This list includes RK Ashram Marg, Shivaji Stadium, Yuge Yugin Bharat, Central Secretariat, Kartavya Bhavan, India Gate, War Memorial-High Court, Baroda House, Bharat Mandapam, and Indraprastha. The construction of these stations will significantly ease travel in Delhi’s busiest administrative and tourist areas.
Why is this metro route special?
This new metro corridor will pass directly through the heart of India’s administrative and governance system. With the opening of this route, access to Central Vista, Bharat Mandapam, the India Gate complex, the Central Secretariat, numerous government offices, courts, and major tourist destinations will become much easier. These areas of Lutyens’ Delhi and Central Delhi have been plagued by traffic jams for years due to office hours, major events, and heavy tourist traffic. Once this new metro corridor is operational, residents will be completely relieved of this daily, painful traffic bottleneck.
These areas will get bumper benefits
This major infrastructure upgrade is also set to give Delhi’s real estate market a boost. Reduced commuting times are expected to significantly increase housing demand and rentals in residential areas around Central Delhi. Additionally, proximity to government offices and business centers will also increase demand for commercial space and co-working offices. This project will directly benefit millions of working people in Connaught Place, ITO, Minto Road, Gole Market, as well as West Delhi (Janakpuri, Rajouri Garden) and East Delhi who commute to the Central Secretariat or Connaught Place daily.
