Digilocker has more than 174 million registered users, 5.62 billion documents issued and 166 requesters till date. Government is promoting DigiLocker and online documentation for Digital India. In such a situation, it is believed that soon DigiLocker will be already installed in the phone. Meaning that you will not need to download it separately from Google Play Store.

What is Digital Locker

Digital Locker or Digilocker is a virtual locker using which you can store your documents online. Through this, all government and important documents can be kept in digital form at one place and can be accessed through your phone only if needed. In such a situation, it is believed that soon DigiLocker will be already installed in the phone. Meaning that you will not need to download it separately from Google Play Store.

How is Digilocker used?

First of all, you have to open an account in Digilocker. For this, it is mandatory for you to have an Aadhaar card. Driving license, PAN card, voter ID card, passport etc. can be stored in this DigiLocker, apart from this many government certificates can also be stored.

How to open account in Digilocker

  • For this you have to go to the government’s website digilocker.gov.in or digitallocker.gov.in.
  • After the website page opens, click on SIGN UP.
  • Here enter your name, date of birth, registered mobile number along with email id along with your created password.
  • After this, you will get 2 options as soon as you enter the Aadhaar number.
  • There will be one OTP and one fingerprint.
  • You can use any one of these as per your convenience.
  • After this username and password will be created and then you can use DigiLocker by logging in.
