To make the journey of those traveling on the National Highway easier, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has introduced the FASTag Annual Pass. This pass will provide 200 trips for just Rs 3000, that is, only Rs 15 will be spent on each trip.
This system will be applicable for passenger vehicles. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said that the new scheme will come into effect from August 15, 2025.
Sharing information on the social media platform X, Nitin Gadkari said that the activation link will soon be made available on the official website of Rajyamarg App, NHAI and MoRTH. NHAI stands for National Highway Authority and MoRTH stands for Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. Its purpose is to save people’s income by giving annual pass. It is more beneficial for those who often travel on the National Highway. This pass will save money as well as time.
What is the annual plan of FASTag?
The annual pass activated on FASTag allows free travel of car, jeep, van without fee for every travel user on NH and NE toll plazas for one year or 200 trips (whichever is earlier). The annual pass will be available from August 15, 2025.
How will the FASTag pass be activated in the existing account?
After purchasing the annual pass, this pass can be activated on your existing FASTag, provided the FASTag eligibility criteria are being met. That is, the FASTag is properly affixed on the windshield of your vehicle and is linked to a valid registered number, which is not a blacklisted number.
How can you buy it?
You can buy the annual FASTag annual pass through the Yatra mobile app and the NHAI website, which will be made available from August 15. After purchasing it, you can travel for free for a year or up to 200 toll trips.
How will the annual pass be activated?
The annual pass will be activated once the vehicle and the associated FASTag meet the eligibility criteria. After verification, users will have to pay Rs 3,000 for the basic year 2025-26 through the Highway Travel mobile app or the NHAI website. After the payment, the annual pass will be activated on the registered FASTag.
How long will the annual pass be valid?
The annual pass is valid for one year or 200 transactions (trips) from the date of activation, whichever is earlier. Once the FASTag completes 200 trips or one year from the date of annual pass activation, it will automatically convert into a regular FASTag. It will have to be activated again after the completion of the trip or 1 year.
What does 1 trip mean in an annual pass?
If you take the annual trip of Fastag, you get 200 trips for free. Each time you cross a toll plaza, it is counted as one trip. A round trip (to and fro) is counted as 2 trips. For a closed tolling toll plaza, a pair of entry and exit is counted as a single trip.
