Gratuity Hike: Government increased the gratuity limit of these pensioners to 25 lakhs

Giving a big relief to the retired employees, the Delhi government has increased the maximum limit of gratuity for the pensioners of Delhi Vidyut Board (DVB) from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 25 lakh. This new system will be considered effective from January 1, 2024. At present, about 500 pensioners are expected to get the benefit of this decision.

Giving information about this, Delhi’s Power Minister Ashish Sood said that it was a long-standing demand of DVB pensioners that the gratuity limit be increased. The government has taken this decision after seriously considering this matter and discussing with the concerned department.

According to the statement issued by the government, to implement this increased gratuity amount, a proposal has now been placed before the Trustee Board, from where formal approval is awaited.

This decision is expected to put a financial burden of about Rs 16 crore on the government treasury between 1 January 2024 and 31 March 2025. Gratuity is the amount given to employees at the time of retirement as a mark of respect for their service period. This decision is being considered a positive initiative of the government for DVB pensioners, which will further strengthen their financial condition.
