Indian Railways Plan: The previous record of earnings in the financial year 2022-23 has been broken by the Indian Railways. In the earnings figures released by the Railways, there has been an increase in both passenger fare and freight earnings.

To further increase the earning figures, a major decision has been taken by the Railways. According to this decision, Railways has placed orders for 84,000 bogies to increase share in transportation and increase income. This information has been given by Minister of State for Railways Darshana Jardosh.

The target of increasing the share in the freight traffic is that in the coming days, on the increase in the earnings of the Railways, the exemption given to the senior citizens in the fare can be restored again. Railways has set a target of increasing the share of freight to 45 percent by the year 2030. For this, an order for about 84,000 bogies has been placed this year, which is the biggest figure so far. The Minister of State for Railways said in a program of Industry Board Assocham that the Railways is expected to achieve its highest carrying capacity of 1500 million tonnes this year.

Target to increase from 27 to 45 percent

Minister of State for Railways said that railway transport has been generally used to carry bulk goods. But now many products which can be transported by road are being transported in containers through rail. Zardosh said, ‘Keeping all these things in mind, a target has been set to increase the share of railways in freight traffic from 27 percent to 45 percent by 2030. For this, basically four things – track availability, bogie and rack, terminal availability, apart from various transportation plans will be required.

He said that the government has emphasized on all these points in the last eight years. Between 2014 and 2021-22, rail track approval was given on the basis of seven kilometers per day and now it has increased to 12 kilometers per day. He said that the projects being completed at a fast pace will work to connect every part of the country. He informed that 61 percent of the dedicated freight corridor work has also been completed. When it is completely built, the freight movement will be very fast.
