CCTV Cameras in Train: These cameras will be able to record high quality footage even if the trains are running at speeds of more than 100 km/h or in low light conditions. Care will be taken to ensure that the privacy of passengers is not violated
Indian Railways has taken a big step for the safety of passengers. According to the new decision, CCTV cameras will now be installed in all 74,000 coaches and 15,000 engines of the railways. The immediate reason behind this decision was the horrific gang rape of a woman in an empty train coach in Panipat. Officials said that this decision has been taken to increase the safety of passengers in trains.
What is the planning?
Under this initiative, four CCTV cameras will be installed in each passenger coach. Two at the entry gates and two at the rear and front of the bogie gates. Care will be taken to ensure that the privacy of the passengers is not violated. There is a plan to install six cameras in the engines. These cameras will be able to record high quality footage even if the trains are running at a speed of more than 100 km/h or in low light conditions. This means that whether it is day or night, there will be no compromise on the safety of the passengers.
AI will also be used
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has directed the officials to install the best quality products. He has also asked them to look for ways to use AI with CCTV footage under the IndiaAI Mission. This can help detect any unusual behavior and prevent crimes before they happen. All cameras will be checked by a special agency to ensure quality.
Why was this decision taken?
Let us tell you that Indian Railways was already running it as a pilot project. After receiving positive response from the Northern Railway Zone, it has now been decided to install it in all the coaches. Officials believe that this step will not only prevent crimes but will also provide relief to passengers from any mental stress while traveling.
