OTS Pay Electricity Bills: Energy minister announces OTS scheme for power consumers, know registration process

OTS Pay Electricity Bills: On Diwali, there is good news for the defaulters of Kanpur city and the people trapped in electricity theft. Kesco has announced to start OTS (One Time Settlement Scheme) from November 8. This is the first time that electricity theft issue has also been included in OTS. Consumers caught in electricity theft can register by depositing 10 percent of the revenue assessment amount.

This scheme has been launched in three periods. The first period is from November 8 to November 30, the second period is from December 1 to December 15 and the third period is from December 16 to 31. Consumers registering in the first period will have to deposit only 25 percent of the remaining revenue assessment amount after registration. This information was given by Kesco MD Samuel Paul N in the press conference.

Kesco MD said that this is the first time when all the consumers apart from the industry will get the benefit of OTS scheme. The option of lump sum payment and installment payment is also given in this. Apart from electricity theft, other defaulting consumers will have to register by depositing 30 percent of the dues including the current bill. After this, there will be exemption in surcharge up to 100% for different periods.

You will get 30 days time

Kesco Director Rakesh Varshney said that after registration, consumers will get 30 days to pay the dues. Those against whom RC has been issued will also get the benefit of this. He informed that cash counters will remain open despite the holiday.
