PMJAY-MA Amount Increased: The state government increased the health insurance amount from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh

The state government has revised the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana-Mukhyamantri Amritam (PMJAY-MA) to increase the health cover to Rs 10 lakh. This means that now the patient will be given the facility of free treatment up to Rs 10 lakh.

The Gujarat government has announced to increase the health insurance amount from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh, giving a gift to the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana-Chief Minister Amritam (PMJAY-MA). Gujarat Health Minister Rushikesh Patel on Tuesday officially launched the revised health insurance scheme from his office in the presence of health department officials.

On behalf of the state government, it was said that the beneficiaries of PMJAY-MA in Gujarat will get an insurance cover of Rs 10 lakh, which is double the cover of Rs 5 lakh earlier. Explain that the PMJAY of the Central Government is popularly known as Ayushman Bharat. MA in Gujarat means Mukhyamantri Amritam Yojana. Let us tell you that in the state budget in February, Finance Minister Kanubhai Desai had announced to double the insurance cover from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh under the PMJAY-MA scheme. Now it has been implemented.

Gujarat Health Minister Rushikesh Patel said that people who have Ayushman cards can undergo surgeries, treatments, kidney, heart, liver and even cochlear transplants at an expense of up to Rs 10 lakh. It was informed that 2,027 government hospitals, 803 private and 18 central government hospitals in the state are authorized to provide treatment or perform surgeries under PMJAY-MA.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Mukhyamantri Amritam Yojana during his tenure as the Chief Minister of Gujarat with an insurance cover of Rs 2 lakh, which was later increased to Rs 3 lakh. PMJAY was launched in 2018 by the Prime Minister with an insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh. Now the health cover under this scheme has been increased to Rs 10 lakh.
