UP News: Gomtinagar railway station in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, is now going to get a new name. This station will be named after former Prime Minister of India and five-time MP from Lucknow, Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Railway officials have indicated that this station will now be known as ‘Atal Bihari Vajpayee Terminal’. Also, his statue will be installed in the station premises, so that the new generation can get information about his contribution.
This announcement was made in the review meeting of Northeast Railway, Lucknow Division, in which this suggestion was put forward by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s MP representative Diwakar Tripathi and Public Relations Officer Dr. Raghavendra Shukla. Railway officials have given a positive response to this proposal and assured implementation.
The new terminal will be equipped with world-class facilities.
According to the railways, Gomtinagar station is being developed as a world-class terminal. Trains will operate from here on major routes including New Delhi, Jammu (Katra), Puri, Gujarat. Along with this, Vande Bharat Express and Lucknow-Kanpur local trains will also be operated from this terminal.
Railway crossings and bridges will be constructed in many parts of the city.
During the meeting, MP representatives and officials pointed out the need to construct foot overbridges, underpasses and flyovers at railway crossings of Fatima Hospital crossing, Tadi Khana, Mohibullahpur, Bhithauli, Rakabganj, Mashkganj and Mithai Wala crossing. A physical inspection of these sites was also conducted.
An overbridge will be built on Jugauli crossing, five lakh people will get relief.
Priority is being given to the plan of building an overbridge on Jugauli railway crossing. The MP representative said that the construction of this bridge will provide relief to about five lakh people coming to Gomtinagar from Faizabad Road, who travel on this route daily.
Instructions to prepare DPR and inform the officials
A team of engineers including senior divisional engineer of Northeast Railway Gaurav Gupta and project manager of Uttar Pradesh Bridge Corporation Pooja Srivastava inspected all these sites. After this, a meeting was held in the DRM office and the officials were instructed to prepare DPR (Detailed Project Report) and send it to the government soon.
Local councillors and social organizations also participated
in this inspection and meeting. Councillors Nupur Shankhdhar, Sunil Shankhdhar, Saurabh Tiwari along with Gomtinagar Jankalyan Mahasabha officials Sanjay Nigam, RP Mishra and Rajiv Gupta were also present. Everyone demanded from the railway that construction work should be started soon keeping in mind the convenience of the people living in Gomtinagar and its surrounding areas.
It is worth mentioning that Atal Bihari Vajpayee was not only the MP from Lucknow, but he also gave a new direction to the country with his leadership. Many institutions like Atal Chowk, Atal University and Atal Convention Center already exist in Lucknow in his honor. Now a true tribute is being paid to him by naming the railway station after him.
