Indian Railways Waiting List Rules: Indian Railways has taken a big step to improve the convenience and experience of passengers. According to railway sources, under passenger reforms, the Railways has decided to put a limit on the number of waiting tickets. Now only a maximum of 25 percent waiting tickets will be issued in trains, that is, the number of waiting tickets is being reduced compared to earlier.
This decision has been taken by the railways after analysing the data of passengers under the PPM (Passenger Profile Management) system. In this, the booking, cancellation and waiting pattern of trains has been understood on the basis of information received from modern technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) as well as other sources.
Why did the Railways change the rules?
Railways believes that in trains where the number of ticket cancellations is high, the number of waiting tickets will be kept relatively high. On the contrary, in trains where the number of cancellations is less, the waiting ticket limit will also be less. This step will benefit the passengers who get confirmed tickets and there will be no unnecessary inconvenience in their journey.
This decision of the railways will also help in controlling the overcrowding in the coaches, which will make the journey more comfortable and safe. In such a situation, if you have to travel by train, then it will be necessary to plan before booking the ticket because the chances of waiting will be less than before.
Train tickets will become expensive from July 1!
From July 1, train tickets are going to become expensive for the common man. According to sources, from July 1, the fare of non-AC coaches can be increased by 1 paisa per kilometer and the fare of AC coaches can be increased by 2 paisa per kilometer.
Tatkal ticket will not be booked without OTP
To curb ticket brokers, the Railways has also changed the rules for ticket booking. From July 1, 2025, users booking Tatkal train tickets will also have to provide OTP, which will be sent to the mobile number registered in their IRCTC account. OTP based Tatkal ticket booking is going to be mandatory from July 15.
Change in ticket booking rules for agents
During booking Tatkal tickets, agents will not be allowed to book tickets half an hour before July 1. This will help more and more people get Tatkal train tickets in the system.
Will you know 24 hours in advance whether the ticket is confirmed or not?
If you book a train ticket, the chart is prepared 4 hours before the train departs and it tells you whether your ticket is confirmed or not… But now the railways is working on a new project. According to reports, now the chart can be prepared 24 hours before the train departs, which will give you information about your ticket being confirmed 24 hours in advance.
When does instant booking start?
First of all, know when you can book Tatkal tickets from IRCTC’s site. According to the rules, Tatkal booking for AC category trains starts at 10 am every day, while Tatkal ticket booking for sleeper class trains starts at 11 am every morning.
