Rs 2000 Withdrawal: If you still have Rs 2000 notes left out of circulation, then this news is for you. A big update has come from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on the Rs 2000 note.

It was told by RBI that the Rs 2,000 note which has been withdrawn from circulation can also be exchanged from the post office. The Reserve Bank said in a group of FAQs on its website that people can send Rs 2,000 notes from any post office to any of its 19 regional offices to get the amount in their bank account.

There is still a queue of people in the regional office of RBI

For this, an application form will have to be filled online and the notes will have to be sent to the RBI office from any post office facility. This form is available on the RBI website. In fact, people are still standing in queues at the regional office of RBI to exchange Rs 2,000 notes. According to the FAQs of RBI, a person can exchange notes up to a limit of Rs 20,000 at a time in 19 offices of the Reserve Bank along with the facility available from the post office.

RBI had announced the withdrawal

of Rs 2,000 notes in May last year. This note was issued for the first time at the time of demonetization in November 2016. RBI had said that the decision to withdraw Rs 2,000 notes was taken because most of these notes have completed their expected life span and people are also not using them much in transactions.

More than 97.38 percent of the Rs 2,000 notes in circulation by May 2023 have been withdrawn. Although now exchange or deposit of these notes is not allowed in bank branches, but RBI has provided alternative means.
