A statement issued by Virudhunagar District Collector Sugaputra said, “The festivals usually begin in the month of Aadi in Tamil Nadu. In this regard, the Aadi Pooram chariot festival is celebrated with great pomp every year at the Andal Nachiyar temple located in Srivilliputhur in Virudhunagar district. Accordingly, this year the festival will be celebrated on Monday (July 28).”

As a result, a local holiday has been declared in all schools, colleges and government institutions in Virudhunagar district. In addition, Saturday (August 9) will be a working day to compensate for this.

In lieu of this local holiday, government offices, schools and other departments will operate as a full working day on August 9 (second Saturday).
