The Magic of MST: How Much Will You Save?

Unlike regular tickets, a Student MST is heavily subsidized.

  • General Category: You get a 50% discount on the already cheap adult season ticket fare.

  • SC/ST Category: You get a 75% discount on the adult season ticket fare.

  • The “Millennium Gift”:

    • Boys up to Class 10: Travel for FREE in Second Class.

    • Girls up to Graduation: Travel for FREE in Second Class.

Step-by-Step Guide to Your 2026 Train Pass

1. The “Handwritten” Form Head to your nearest railway station or your college admin office to get the Student Concession Form.

  • The Rule: You must fill this out in your own handwriting using BLOCK LETTERS.

  • No Errors: If you make a mistake, don’t use whitener. Just grab a fresh form—the Railways are strict about “overwriting.”

2. College Endorsement This is the most important step. Take the filled form to your Principal or Head of Institution.

  • They need to sign and stamp the form to verify you are a Bonafide Student.

  • Documents needed for college: Valid Student ID and current year’s fee receipt.

3. The Railway Counter Visit Take your attested form to the designated Booking Office or Concession Counter at the station.

  • Carry: Your original Student ID and 2-3 passport-sized photos.

  • Payment: Pay the nominal fee (or ₹0 if you qualify for the Free MST). You will receive a physical pass or a smart card.

4. Going Digital (The UTS Way) In 2026, you can renew your pass via the UTS Mobile App.

  • Once your initial pass is issued at the counter, you can use the “Sync Paperless Pass” feature on the app.

  • Pro-Tip: Renewing digitally saves you from those long Monday morning queues!

Rules You Can’t Ignore

  • Distance Limit: Passes are valid for travel up to 150 km (extendable to 160 km in specific zones).

  • Age Limits: * General Students: Up to 25 years.
