The Railway Minister told Parliament on Friday that tickets purchased from the ticket counter can also be cancelled online through the IRCTC website or enquiry number 139, but one will have to visit the Railway Reservation Centre to get a refund.

BJP Rajya Sabha member Medha Vishram Kulkarni had asked the Railway Ministry whether it is necessary to go to the station before the departure of the train to cancel the ticket. In a written reply to this question, the Railway Ministry said that the ticket will be cancelled at the reservation counter on surrender of the waitlisted ticket taken from the PRS counter (Railway Reservation Centre) as per the time limit prescribed in the Railway Passenger (Cancellation and Refund) Rules, 2015.

The Railway Ministry in its reply said, however, under normal circumstances, PRS counter tickets can also be cancelled online through IRCTC website or 139 within the prescribed time limit as per the Railway Passenger (Cancellation of Tickets and Refund of Fare) Rules, 2015 and the refund amount can be obtained by submitting the ticket at the actual PRS counter of the reservation counters.

This is how you can cancel your ticket online

To cancel a counter ticket online, first you have to go to the official website of IRCTC. Here you have to go to More Actions and click on Counter Ticket Cancellation. After this a new page will open. Where you can cancel your ticket or change the boarding point. After choosing the option to cancel the ticket, you have to fill your PNR number and security captcha. After this you will be sent an OTP on your registered mobile number. After this your details will appear on the screen. After checking the details, click on the Cancel Ticket option. After this your refund amount will appear on your screen.

Tickets purchased over the counter can be cancelled online, but to get a refund you will have to visit your nearest PRS counter. Where you can get a refund by showing the ticket. However, to get a refund, keep in mind that you have to deposit it at the PRS counter at least 4 hours before the scheduled departure of the train. Also, waiting list or RAC tickets can be deposited at the counter 30 minutes before the train departure.

This will be the country’s first pollution-free train, which will cover a distance of 90 km. It will have 8 to 10 coaches. In covering this distance, a diesel train emits about 964 kg of carbon, but this hydrogen train will be completely environment-friendly.

3 thousand kg hydrogen storage at Jind railway station

Special preparations are being made for this train in Jind district of Haryana. A plant is being built at Jind railway station to store 3,000 kg hydrogen. Along with this, underground storage is also being arranged. Rainwater collected on the roofs of the station will be transported to this plant. Necessary machines have also been ordered to run the hydrogen train. The trial run of this train will be done in January and there is a plan to run it regularly in this financial year.

The coaches of the train are being manufactured at the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai, which will be ready by December. Two trains are expected to run in the first phase. This train will give mileage equivalent to 4.5 liters of diesel on 1 kg of hydrogen. 2.4 MW of electricity will be required to pull 8 to 10 coaches, for which two power plants will be installed in the train.

Traveling to the mountains with a hydrogen train

Railways plans to run 30 hydrogen trains on heritage and mountain routes such as Matheran Hill Railway, Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, Kalka-Shimla Railway, Kangra Valley Railway, Nilgiri Mountain Railway in the next three years.

5 things about UPS make it special from NPS:

First – At least 50% fixed pension

Employees had been demanding for a long time that they should get a fixed amount as pension. This amount will be 50% of the average basic salary of the 12 months just before retirement. The condition for this is that the employee will have to complete 25 years of service.

Second- Fixed Family Pension

In NPS, the amount of pension to be received by the family on the death of the employee was not fixed. Whereas in UPS, in case of death of an employee while in service, the family will get 60 percent of the pension.

Third part- Minimum Fixed Pension

The minimum pension amount to be given to a retired employee in UPS has also been fixed. In case of minimum service of 10 years, the employee will be given at least Rs 10,000 per month as pension.

Fourth- Arrangement according to inflation

In the Unified Pension Scheme, pension has been linked with inflation. Employees will also get the benefit of inflation indexation along with pension. This arrangement is exactly like the dearness allowance given to the serving employees at present. That is, with the increase in inflation, the government will increase the pension.

Fifth- Apart from gratuity, a lump sum amount will be given on leaving the job.
The government will give 10% of the salary and DA of each employee for every 6 months of service as a lump sum amount after retirement. This amount will not affect the fixed pension of the employees.

According to the news published in the Times of India (TOI), two prototypes of Vande Metro are being prepared at Rail Coach Factory Kapurthala and ICF Chennai. They are expected to be ready in a few months. After this, they will be tested on a large scale.

Both Vande Metro and Vande Bharat Express run without an engine. But let us tell you that Vande Metro is being built to replace the old EMU train. It is clear from this that these trains are being started with the aim of making short distance travel comfortable.

Vande Metro will have lightweight aluminium racks for luggage. There will also be a Passenger Information System with LCD display. This will make travelling on short distances very comfortable. Vande Metro will have automatic doors for passengers to board and deboard.

There will also be points for charging mobile phones in the train. A safety feature called KAVACH has been provided in the train to avoid collision. Special lighting arrangements have been made inside the coach. Displays showing route information are also installed inside the coach.

Vande Metro will have modern design lightly cushioned seats. Lightweight cushion sheets have been used in making the coach. One coach has seating capacity for 100 passengers and 200 passengers will be able to travel standing.

There will be a total of 823 berths in a sleeper Vande Bharat train. It will have 823 berths for passengers and 34 berths for staff. The prototype of sleeper Vande Bharat will be ready by December 2023.

The new Vande Bharat Express is light and can accelerate to 100 km in just 52 seconds. At present, all Vande Bharat trains are fully air-conditioned and have automatic doors. The chair of Vande Bharat train can be rotated up to 180 degrees. The train has GPS based information system, CCTV cameras, vacuum toilets.

It also has a provision for power backup. This train is equipped with safety shield. Full care has been taken to ensure that passengers feel safe during the journey. It also has the facility of push button stop. In case of any emergency the train can be stopped by pressing a button.
