There is big news for central employees. Actually, the Narendra Modi government has made some changes in the guidelines related to CGHS (Central Government Health Scheme). This is going to have a direct impact on CGHS beneficiaries.

If you are a central government employee, then the Narendra Modi government has given you relief. Actually, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has made some changes in the guidelines related to CGHS (Central Government Health Scheme). This will have a direct impact on CGHS beneficiaries. Let us understand what kind of rules the government has changed.

Till now, it was mandatory for CGHS GHS beneficiaries to upload geo-tagged photos every day when they were admitted to the hospital (IPD). Both hospitals and patients were facing problems due to this rule. In view of these problems, the government has given exemption for not uploading photos in old cases.

What is the new rule?

No geo-tagged photos are required in IPD referral cases now. The referral must be valid and uploaded on the National Health Authority (NHA) portal. IPD stands for In-Patient Department. Through this department, patients are admitted to the hospital for 24 hours or more. In this, patients are admitted after operation or treatment and later remain under hospital observation.

In non-referral IPD cases

In non-referral IPD cases 2 geo-tagged photos are required at the time of admission and at the time of discharge. If hospitalization is more than 7 days, an additional photo is required every 7th day. The photo should be taken in the ICU/ward only. Showing CGHS card is not necessary.

In OPD cases: Photograph is not required in OPD services with referral. Without referral, if the patient is above 70 years of age and bedridden, then the photograph is mandatory. The photograph should be taken from a mobile or tablet. Its size should be less than 1 MB and it has to be uploaded on the CGHS portal within 24 hours.

CGHS New Guidelines: Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) has issued a new guideline. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has changed the online process of obtaining permission for CPAP, BiPAP and oxygen concentrator. The purpose of this change is to reduce paperwork, speed up approval and provide more convenience to the beneficiaries.

As per the new directive of the Health Ministry, it has been decided to completely replace the online mode for obtaining permission for such machines under CGHS. Under the new process, CGHS beneficiaries will now have to submit their applications digitally to the wellness center. These applications should include all the necessary documents.

Submit your application in this way

According to Annexure-1, beneficiaries have to scan their entire application package and email it to the office of the concerned Additional Director of their zone or city. If high-speed scanners are not available in the wellness center, the documents will be sent through post within a day or two. Along with this, additional directors have been instructed to purchase high-speed scanners for all wellness centers to facilitate the online process.

A digital record of the application will also be kept

All applications will be processed through an electronic file system to keep a digital record of permissions and track approvals. The subject matter of the e-file will include the name and ID of the beneficiary and details of all respiratory devices to be issued. Information such as e-file number, beneficiary ID and permission details will be stored in an Excel sheet for better tracking.

If your application is approved, you will be informed about it on email. If you want, you can also collect its soft copy. This is another step taken by the health sector towards digitalization.

CGHS: New rates of Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) package have come into effect for Central Government employees and pensioners. The consultation fee for central government employees and pensioners has been fixed at Rs 350.

Also, the cost of one day for ICU has been kept at Rs 5,400. The government has released new CGHS rates and packages. The government has also made the rules of referral easier than before.

Charges for CGHS beneficiaries

1. CGHS cardholders will need Rs 350 for OPD consultation.

2. The rate for CGHS beneficiaries for IPD consultation has been fixed at Rs 350.

ICU Charge Fee for CGHS Beneficiaries

Rates for ICU have been fixed at Rs 5,400. This cost for private ward is Rs 862 + Rs 4,500 = Rs 5,362 – total Rs 5,400. ICU charges include Rs 750 for non-NABH hospitals and Rs 862 for NABH hospitals. This includes monitoring, RMO charge fee, nursing care and room rent. The room rent will be as per the eligibility of the ward of the CGHS beneficiary – General Ward, Semi Private Ward or Private Ward.

Referral process made easier for CGHS cardholders

The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) has also simplified the referral process for CGHS Wellness Centre. Earlier the CGHS beneficiary had to personally visit the CGHS Wellness Center and take a referral to the hospital. But now if the CGHS beneficiary is unable to go, he can send someone on his behalf to the wellness center with his documents. The medical officer may ask the beneficiary to go to the hospital after examining the documents. Now CGHS beneficiary can do this work through video call.
