If you are traveling in a train and suddenly the charge of the phone runs out, then you immediately go near the charging socket and use it. If this facility is stopped, then obviously the passengers will be in trouble.

Railways has done this. However, the purpose behind this is not to harass people but to strengthen their security further. In the investigation of many minor fire incidents in the train, it was found that the main reason was short circuit in the socket. Often people fall asleep at night by charging their phone or laptop, which poses the risk of short circuit.

To curb such incidents, the Railways has strictly prohibited the use of charging sockets on trains from 11 pm to 5 am. In order to comply with this properly, it is also ensured that after 11 pm only the main supply of electricity to the socket is switched off. This is not a new beginning. Railways had issued instructions regarding this in 2021 itself. Western Railway started it on March 16, 2021 by shutting down the power supply in the charging ports. Apart from this, in 2014, the Railway Board had instructed all the zones to do the same.

Action against smoking and inflammable items

Railways has made a provision of fine for carrying inflammable items and smoking in order to prevent incidents of fire in the train. This is a punishable offense under Section 164 of the Railway Act. Under this, the offender can be fined Rs 1000 and jailed for 3 years or both. These instructions have been issued not only for passengers but also for railway employees. The Ministry of Railways had issued a statement saying that security is the center of railway operations and there cannot be any laxity in it.

Some other rules of railway

Indian Railways has made many rules for the convenience of its passengers. One of these rules is that TC cannot wake you up to check tickets from 10 pm to 6 am. However, if you have caught the train only after 10 pm, then you will have to show the ticket. Apart from this, passengers can carry luggage weighing up to 40 kg in First AC while up to 15 kg in Sleeper class.

Traveling by train is one of the most comfortable and economical ways in the country. India’s railway network is very large and daily lakhs of passengers travel by train.

Trains have all class (General, Sleeper and AC) options for passengers to travel and their charges are also different, but do you know that there is a train running in the country in which the journey is absolutely free. (Indian Railway Free Train) and people do not have to pay for the ticket.

On which route does this train run?

This train is run on the border of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh, in which no fare is charged from the passengers, named Bhakra-Nangal Train. Actually, this train is managed by Bhakra Byas Management Board. This train runs between Bhakra and Nangal and covers a distance of 13 kms.

There is no TTE in this train either.

The Bhakra-Nangal train passes through the Sutlej river and the Shivalik hills. No fare is charged from the passengers traveling in it and people enjoy their journey for free. Not only this, there is no TTE to check tickets in this train.

Why is this train run for free?

Actually, the world-famous Bhakra-Nangal Dam is famous as the highest straight gravity dam and a large number of people come daily to see it. This special Bhakra-Nangal train is run for these tourists only. All the people coming to see Bhakra-Nangal Dam can enjoy free travel in this train.

was started in the year 1948

The Bhakra-Nangal train was started in the year 1948 and initially this train was run by steam engine, but now it is run by diesel engine. Earlier there were 10 coaches in this train, but now it has been reduced and only 3 bogies are used in this train. The specialty of this train is that its coaches are made of wood and runs on a track made by cutting mountains. Three tunnels have also been built on the track through which the Bhakra-Nangal train passes.

The train is run as a heritage

In the year 2011, the Bhakra Byas Management Board had decided to discontinue the free service in view of the economic loss, but later it was decided to run it as a legacy, not considering it as an income source.
