If you are traveling in a train and suddenly the charge of the phone runs out, then you immediately go near the charging socket and use it. If this facility is stopped, then obviously the passengers will be in trouble.

Railways has done this. However, the purpose behind this is not to harass people but to strengthen their security further. In the investigation of many minor fire incidents in the train, it was found that the main reason was short circuit in the socket. Often people fall asleep at night by charging their phone or laptop, which poses the risk of short circuit.

To curb such incidents, the Railways has strictly prohibited the use of charging sockets on trains from 11 pm to 5 am. In order to comply with this properly, it is also ensured that after 11 pm only the main supply of electricity to the socket is switched off. This is not a new beginning. Railways had issued instructions regarding this in 2021 itself. Western Railway started it on March 16, 2021 by shutting down the power supply in the charging ports. Apart from this, in 2014, the Railway Board had instructed all the zones to do the same.

Action against smoking and inflammable items

Railways has made a provision of fine for carrying inflammable items and smoking in order to prevent incidents of fire in the train. This is a punishable offense under Section 164 of the Railway Act. Under this, the offender can be fined Rs 1000 and jailed for 3 years or both. These instructions have been issued not only for passengers but also for railway employees. The Ministry of Railways had issued a statement saying that security is the center of railway operations and there cannot be any laxity in it.

Some other rules of railway

Indian Railways has made many rules for the convenience of its passengers. One of these rules is that TC cannot wake you up to check tickets from 10 pm to 6 am. However, if you have caught the train only after 10 pm, then you will have to show the ticket. Apart from this, passengers can carry luggage weighing up to 40 kg in First AC while up to 15 kg in Sleeper class.
