Delhi Airport T2 Temporarily Closed: There is very important news for those who travel to and from Delhi Airport. Terminal T2 of Delhi Airport is going to be temporarily closed for 6 months between April and September this year.

Terminal T2 of Delhi Airport is about 4 decades old. Delhi Airport operator DIAL said that this temporary closure is going to be for reconstruction work, which is going to take about 6 months.

The busiest airport in the country

Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) is one of the busiest airports in the country. Delhi Airport has a total of three terminals – T1, T2, T3. Out of these, only domestic flights are operated from T1 and T2.

When will the work start?

According to Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), the reconstruction of T2 will begin in the financial year 2025-26 and will be completed in the second quarter (Q2) of FY26. T2 was built 40 years ago by the Airports Authority of India (AAI). The airport handles around 1,300 flights daily.

Will it affect passengers?

DIAL said, “Terminal 2 will be temporarily closed for approximately 4 to 6 months to complete these renovation works. The temporary closure of Terminal 2 will cause minimal disruption to operations as the newly developed Terminal 1 is designed to handle the additional load, ensuring uninterrupted service to passengers.”

“This decades-old terminal will undergo significant upgrades, improving the passenger experience and increasing the airport’s capacity to meet future demands,” the release said.

DIAL CEO Videh Kumar Jaipuriar said the revamp of the four-decade-old T2 is the need of the hour. He said upgrading key infrastructure, improving efficiency of operations and enhancing passenger comfort will enhance the overall experience.

He further added, “The passenger capacity of the terminal is expected to reach its peak by the financial year 2025-26. In such a situation, these improvements will be important to support the growing air travel demand from domestic passengers.”

Delhi Airport running cis planning to increase the fee charged from Airlines. In such a situation, it is possible that air travel tickets from Delhi may increase in the coming days. What is this whole matter after all…

Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), the operator of Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, has planned to collect a little extra from the airlines. In fact, many airlines keep their planes parked in the ‘plane parking space’ of Delhi airport. DIAL has planned to increase the parking fees of these aircraft.

DIAL says that these planes of the airlines have not been flying for a long time and are, in a way, out of service. Therefore, it has planned to charge more from the airlines for such long standing aircraft, as these aircraft occupy the parking space of the airport and this creates problems in the operation of flights at the airport.

The planes are just standing in the parking lot

Recently, engine problems were found in the planes of many airlines. This includes Airbus aircraft with Pratt & Whitney engines. Due to this, even airlines like ‘Go First’ have reached the verge of closure. At the same time, technical faults have been seen in many aircraft of Indigo and Air India and the number of such cases is increasing. These planes occupy the parking space of the airport.

DIAL spokesperson said that at present about 64 aircraft of different airlines including IndiGo, SpiceJet and Air India are standing idle at Delhi airport. These include 24 aircraft of Indigo, 6 of SpiceJet, 2 of Air India and one aircraft of Alliance Air. At the same time, 23 aircraft of airlines Go First, 5 of Zoom Air and 3 of Jet Airways, which have stopped operations, are also parked at the airport. Whereas there are 295 parking spaces for planes at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGAI).

Higher parking fees will be collected

DIAL CEO Videh Kumar Jaipuriar says that in the coming days, when we will review the aircraft traffic at the airport, then we will consider charging some more fees from the airlines who keep the aircraft parked here for more than a certain time limit. May go. Traffic at Delhi airport will now be reviewed early next year.

If parking fees for airlines are increased. Then it is possible that people may have to pay a little more fare for air travel, because the company can compensate this extra expense from the customers. Anyway, ‘airport charges’ are an essential part of the air travel ticket.

The post Delhi airport is going to increase these fees first appeared on Rightsofemployees.com.

There is a latest update from Delhi Airport. Terminal 2 of Delhi Airport will be converted into an international terminal for some time. Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) chief Videh Kumar Jaipuriar has given this information on Friday.

According to language news, the officials concerned have said that the expansion work of Terminal-1 (T1) of Delhi Airport is expected to be completed by the end of February. He says that traffic of more than seven crore passengers is expected in the current financial year. Jaipuriyar said that once work on Terminal 1 is completed, the passenger handling capacity of the terminal will increase from 17 million to 40 million.

Airport and Terminal

Regarding converting Terminal 2, Jaipuriar said DIAL still has to consult stakeholders. He said that if everything is finalized then by June-July next year, we will be able to convert T2 into an international terminal. At present, Terminal 2 is for domestic flights and its passenger management capacity is 15 million.

Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in the national capital is the largest airport in the country and is operated by Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL). Currently there are three terminals at the airport – T1, T2 and T3 – and depending on traffic trends, the operator will decide on T4. Currently there is international operation only from T3.

DGCA issued a circular

Civil aviation regulator DGCA has issued a circular regarding combating the threats of jamming or spoofing of the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS). This circular was issued to airlines and the Airport Authority of India (AAI) amid reports of such tampering in West Asia. It outlines a comprehensive action plan and safety measures for aircraft operators, pilots, air navigation service providers (ANSPs) and air traffic controllers (ATC).

In order to provide better services to passengers, Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport has started ‘DigiYatra’ registration process at the gate.

According to Delhi International Airport Limited, passengers can now avail the ‘DigiAtra’ facility at Terminal 3 of IGI Airport. This will increase the registration process and save the time of the passengers.

With the commencement of the DigiYatra registration process, passengers will no longer need to face long queues and install the DigiYatra app. Because after ‘DigiYatra’ registration, entry will be given by scanning the boarding pass, showing the face.

According to Delhi International Airport Limited, the new system will help passengers easily complete their 3-step registration process. All they need to do is scan their boarding pass, complete the facial recognition process and show their identity proof to the security guards at the registration desk. After successfully completing the process, passengers can easily navigate through the terminals including boarding gates and other security check points.

Digiyatra Registration Benefits

At present, passengers can avail the facility of DigiYatra registration process at all departure gates of Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 at IGI Airport. The new registration process will provide safe, fast and smooth service to passengers, thereby saving valuable time. Apart from this, this initiative will also be helpful for those people who do not know much about technology. Passengers will now be able to spend more time with their relatives at the airport before saying goodbye.

Know what is DigiYatra?

DigiYatra was initially launched on December 1, 2022 to provide a contactless environment, hassle free travel, improve passenger mobility at boarding gates, enhance security measures and offer dedicated gates during the COVID period. It was observed that with the introduction of this system, passengers have been able to save around 15 to 25 minutes.

The post IGI Airport has started the registration process for DigiYatra, know the complete details first appeared on Rightsofemployees.com.
