In 2015, India had 14.9 crore LPG connections, which increased to 32.9 crore by 2025. After this decision of the government, the price of petrol in Pakistan has now increased from Rs.248 to Rs.252.10 paise. The price of high speed diesel has become Rs.258.43 paise. Let us tell you that the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) on Saturday announced an increase in the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) across Pakistan for December. According to an official notification from OGRA, OGRA has increased the price of LPG by 1.32 Pakistani rupees per kg, making the new price 254.30 Pakistani rupees, reports Express Tribune. The new price of a 11.8 kg domestic LPG cylinder will now be 3,079 Pakistani rupees. The price of the same cylinder in November was 2,999.47 Pakistani rupees, reflecting an upward adjustment of 79.53 Pakistani rupees.

That means the beneficiaries of the scheme will be able to get the cylinder refilled 12 times in a year for Rs 450-450.

Rajasthan government has started a special campaign to extend the benefits of the scheme to the eligible beneficiaries, which has been named Vikas Bharat Sankalp Yatra. Oil companies have given further relief of Rs 83.50 in commercial cylinders today.

In Kolkata, the cylinder has become cheaper by Rs 85 and has now reached Rs 1875.50 from Rs 1960.50. Commercial LPG cylinder has become cheaper by Rs 83.50 from Rs 1808.5 to Rs 1725 in the business city of Mumbai. At the same time, customers are getting it at Rs 1937, down from Rs 2021.50 to Rs 84.50 in Chennai.

Crude oil prices fall but LPG cylinders are not cheap!

At present, Rs 1053 has to be paid for refilling a 14.2 kg LPG cylinder in the capital Delhi. 1079 in Kolkata, Rs 1052.50 in Mumbai and Rs 1068 in Chennai. Rs 1151 has to be paid in Patna, then Rs 1090 has to be paid in Lucknow. Government oil companies have not made any change in the prices of LPG cylinders since 6 July 2022. While there has been a huge fall in the prices of crude oil during this period. Crude oil prices have come down by 30 per cent during this period.

Domestic LPG cylinder to cost Rs 150 in 2022

In 2022, government oil companies have increased the prices of domestic cooking gas by around Rs 150 per cylinder. Last year in October 2021, when the price of crude oil used to be around $ 85 per barrel, when domestic cooking gas was available for Rs 899. At present, crude oil is trading around $83 per barrel, while the Indian basket price is around $77 per barrel. This is the reason why government oil companies have every reason to cut the prices of domestic cooking gas.

Rajasthan government’s decision increased pressure

Anyway, the opposition is launching an all-round attack on the Modi government regarding the cost of cooking gas. Rahul Gandhi, who is on Bharat Jodo Yatra, is constantly raising questions about the expensive cooking gas and reminding how in 2014 domestic cooking gas was available at Rs 414 per cylinder.

On the other hand, the Congress government of Rajasthan has promised to give cylinders for Rs 500 on April 1, 2023, while the current price in Jaipur is Rs 1056 per cylinder. That is, the state government will provide LPG cylinders to the people at half the price. With this decision of the Rajasthan government, the pressure on the central government has increased. This is the reason why a reduction in the prices of domestic cooking gas is expected in the new year.

New rates of 19 kg commercial cylinder
