EPFO New Rules: EPFO has changed the rules for PF withdrawals. Now, after leaving a job, you must remain unemployed for 12 months to withdraw your full PF balance. The new rule is beneficial for private sector employees, as it ensures service continuity and provides them with more funds upon retirement.

EPFO New Rules: The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has made a major change to its rules. While withdrawing your entire PF immediately after losing your job isn’t as easy as before, it offers significant benefits, especially for private sector employees who frequently change jobs or become unemployed due to circumstances.

What’s changed in the new rule?
Now, to withdraw your entire PF after leaving your job, you must remain unemployed for 12 months. Previously, this period was only 2 months. This means that an employee can now withdraw their entire PF only after being unemployed for one year.

Furthermore, the final pension withdrawal limit has been increased from 2 months to 36 months. According to the EPFO, this change is in the best interest of employees. This change will provide long-term financial security to individuals, ensuring their retirement savings are protected.

Who will benefit?
This rule could prove to be a boon for private sector employees. While it may be difficult for those who frequently change jobs or face occasional unemployment to withdraw their PF early, it will benefit them. Their service history will remain continuous, meaning that when they join a new job, their PF account will continue from there. This will directly benefit them by increasing both their PF funds and pension at retirement.

PF breaks impacted pensions.
According to the EPFO, previously, people used to withdraw PF frequently, which led to breaks in their service. This impacted their pensions, and many cases were even rejected. Now, the new rule will ensure that employees maintain continuity in their job and provide better financial security in the future.

Has withdrawing PF become more difficult now?
It’s not. If someone needs money immediately after leaving their job, they can withdraw up to 75% of their PF. And if they remain unemployed for 12 months, they can withdraw the entire amount. EPFO has clarified that the new rules simplify and digitalize the withdrawal process, so that employees can withdraw their money without hassle if needed.

What is the overall benefit?
This change will greatly benefit employees in the long term. Now their funds will be safe until retirement, and they will receive a higher pension amount than before. These new EPFO rules may sound a bit strict, but in reality, they are designed for the long-term well-being of employees.

EPFO News: The government has increased the automatic settlement limit of advance withdrawal from PF accounts for EPFO members from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 5 lakh.

Now employees will be able to withdraw up to Rs 5 lakh in three days without any human intervention. This facility will apply to needs like education, marriage, illness and housing. In the financial year 2024-25, EPFO has settled a record 2.34 crore claims, proving the transparency and effectiveness of the digital process.

There is great news for crores of employees of the country. Now the members of the Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) will be able to automatically withdraw an advance amount of up to Rs 5 lakh from their PF accounts. Labor and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya announced this new facility on Tuesday, which will provide great relief in times of urgent needs.

Limit increased from 1 lakh to 5 lakh

Till now, automatic settlement of advance withdrawal up to Rs 1 lakh was possible by EPFO, but the government has increased it to Rs 5 lakh. This means that now this amount will be able to reach the employees’ accounts within three days without any human intervention.

In which cases is advance withdrawal available?

EPFO first started this facility during the COVID-19 pandemic. Under this, employees can withdraw advance amount for needs like illness, education, marriage and housing. This entire process is automated by the system, which ensures both transparency and speed.

Automatic settlement increased to record level

According to Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, in the financial year 2024-25, EPFO automatically settled 2.34 crore advance claims, whereas in 2013-14 this figure was only 89.52 lakh. This shows an increase of 161%. The share of automatically settled claims was 31% in the financial year 2023-24, which has now increased to 59%.

76 lakh claims settled in the first two and a half months of 2024-25

At the beginning of the current financial year itself, EPFO has automatically settled 76.52 lakh claims. This clearly shows that the employees are getting full benefit of the new system and the process has become much faster and reliable.

EPFO auto claims: Union Minister for Labour and Employment Mansukh Mandaviya said on June 24 that the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation has increased the auto-claim settlement limit of the provident fund from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 5 lakh.

The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has announced a major relief for its over 7.5 crore members. Union Labour and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya had said on June 24, 2025 that EPFO has increased the auto-claim settlement limit of PF (Provident Fund) from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 5 lakh. This move will prove to be a boon for those who need money urgently in emergencies.

This new rule of EPFO will make the method of withdrawing funds easier and faster. This auto-claim facility, which was started in 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic, earlier helped in withdrawing funds for illness. Now it has been further expanded. Now claims up to Rs 5 lakh can also be settled automatically for important works like education, marriage and house construction.

Features of EPFO Auto Claim

Faster processing: 95 percent of claims are now settled within 3 days, which previously took 10 days.

Withdraw through UPI and ATM: By May-June 2025, EPFO members will also be able to withdraw money through UPI and ATM.

Less Rejection: The claim rejection rate has come down from 50% to 30%. This simply means that the chances of the claim being approved are now higher.

Less hassle: If KYC is complete and Aadhaar, PAN card and bank details are linked, the claim will be processed without any documents.

How to take advantage?

Log in to your UAN portal, verify your KYC, and file a claim online. With just a few clicks, the money will be in your account. Your UAN should be linked to Aadhaar. If so, you won’t need the employer’s approval to update the bank details.

EPFO aims to settle all claims like pension, insurance and PF withdrawal within 72 hours. For this, new technologies like AI and machine learning are being used, which will further improve the experience of your fund holders.

EPFO News: If you are also a salaried class then this news is useful for you. The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) is planning to create a new reserve fund to give fixed interest rates to its crores of members.

With this step, PF account holders will be able to get fixed interest every year and they will get relief from market fluctuations. To prepare this fund, officials of the Ministry of Labor and Employment and EPFO are studying internally.

A fixed portion is invested in the market

Actually, a fixed part of the PF fund is invested in the market by EPFO. Many times EPFO gets less returns on Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) and other investments. EPFO members also have to bear the brunt of this. When there is a decline in the stock market, it also affects the amount received on EPFO’s investment. Due to low returns, EPFO also has to reduce the interest rate of PF.

To avoid such problems, EPFO is considering creating a reserve fund that will keep the return on investment stable. This will enable PF account holders to get fixed interest every year, no matter what the market conditions are.

How will this fund work?

According to the news published in Hindustan website, EPFO will keep aside a part of the interest earned every year under this scheme and deposit it in the reserve fund. Whenever there is a fall in the market and the return from investment is low, then the interest rate will be kept stable by using this fund. More than seven crore members of EPFO will benefit from this.

When will the decision be taken?

Right now the scheme is in the initial stage. Officials of the Ministry of Labor and Employment and EPFO are studying it. A final decision can be taken on this in the next four to six months. Let us tell you that when EPFO was started in 1952-53, at that time only 3% interest was available on PF. By 1989-90 it increased to 12%, which remained till the year 2000-01. After this, there were changes in it from time to time. Currently, the interest of EPFO in 2023-24 is 8.25%.

Important meeting will be held on 28 February

The Central Board of Trustees (CBT) of EPFO will meet on 28 February to decide the PF interest rate for the financial year 2024-25. There may be a discussion on keeping the interest rate stable or increasing it marginally. However, the possibility of reduction in interest rates is being said to be very low.

EPFO News: There is great news for crores of EPFO subscribers. Under an unprecedented decision of the central government, the Centralized Pension Payment System (CPPS) has been fully implemented in all the regional offices of EPFO across India. This work was completed by December 2024. By December 2024, pension of about Rs 1570 crore has been distributed to more than 68 lakh Employee Pension Scheme i.e. EPS pensioners.

Withdraw your pension from any bank branch anywhere in the country

Union Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya said that after this change, pensioners will not face any problem in withdrawing their pension from any bank, any branch anywhere in the country. The direct meaning of this decision is that now EPFO pensioners can withdraw their pension from any regional EPFO office in the country. The centralized pension payment system has been implemented in all 122 regional EPFO offices in the country.

Trying to give the benefit of advanced features of EPFO

Union Labor Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya said that the Centralized Pension Payment System reflects our commitment to advance EPFO services and ensure transparency with convenience for our pensioners. The first pilot project of CPPS was successfully completed in Jammu, Karnal and Srinagar Regional Offices in October 2024. Under this, a total of 11 crore pensions were distributed to 49,000 EPS pensioners. The second pilot program was successfully completed in 24 regional offices of the country. Through these 24 local offices, pension of Rs 213 crore was distributed to more than 9.3 lakh pensioners.

A Major Milestone in Modernizing EPFO!

EPFO’s Centralized Pension Payments System is now fully operational. This modern system ensures that pensioners can access their pensions from any bank, anywhere in India swiftly and hassle-free.

Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya shared the post

EPFO News: Employees Provident Fund Organization i.e. EPFO has announced relief for its subscribers. EPFO has decided to change the rules of interest payment on EPF claim settlement for the members of Employees Provident Fund.

On November 30, 2024, the Central Board of Trustees (CBT) in its decision has changed the rules in 60(2)(b) of EPFO. After its implementation, members will get more interest and settlement will be faster. This information has been given in a report of Economic Times. Let us tell you that this new rule has not been implemented yet. The new rule will come into effect after the government issues a notification. Till then the old rule will remain in force.

What needs to change?

According to the announcement made by EPFO, ‘CBT has approved an important amendment in paragraph 60(2)(b) of EPF Scheme 1952. According to the current rules, interest on settlements done by the 24th of the month is paid till the end of the previous month. Now members will get interest till the date of settlement.’ EPFO believes that this will give more interest to investors. Along with this, cases will also be settled faster.

Currently, settlement is not done from 25th to the end of the month. The reason behind this was to protect the members from loss of interest. But now settlement can be done throughout the month. EPFO has said that this decision shows how efficient, transparent and member-centric the organization is.

How will it be beneficial

Suppose the total balance of an EPF member is Rs 5 lakh. Currently, the interest rate is 8.25 percent. In such a situation, if a person settles on the 23rd of the month, then after the implementation of this rule, he will get interest for 23 days as well. Till now, interest was available only up to one month before the settlement. Due to which EPF members had to suffer losses.

The Union Budget introduced the ELI scheme to encourage job creation. Employees recruited by formal enterprises who find employment for the first time will receive a monthly salary of around ₹15,000 from the government. In addition, employers’ PF contributions will be reimbursed up to ₹3,000 per month over two years for each additional employee hired.
