Action taken after KYC

After the implementation of One Vehicle One Fastag, now those who have more than one Fastag, their Fastag will be deactivated immediately. Only one Fastag will remain active for such people. Because now Fastag KYC has become necessary and without it Fastag cannot be activated, in such a situation, if there are more than one Fastag, then the rest will be deactivated automatically after KYC is done. The Fastag of the person who has not done KYC will be blacklisted, after which double tax will have to be paid at the toll.

Now if you have not done the Fastag KYC or have taken more than one Fastag, then this is a problem for you. Because you will not be able to use the balance present in the second Fastag. In such a situation, you should immediately contact your bank and complete the KYC.

First of all go to the branch of the bank that has issued your FASTag. The bank will give you KYC form, fill it and submit it. Apart from filling this form, you will also have to submit documents. After submitting this form, the bank will verify the KYC details and update your FASTag.

NHAI FASTags can be purchased at most toll plazas. After getting FASTag, you can link it to your bank account and then replenish the balance. You can refill Fastag with Rs 100 and a maximum of Rs 1 lakh.

The central government is now working on a plan to remove toll plazas on national highways. Road Transport and National Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said that the pilot project of this scheme is going on. Under this, instead of toll plazas, automatic cameras will be installed on the highway, which will automatically read the number plates of the vehicles. Along with this, the toll will be automatically deducted from the bank account linked by the car owners.

Vehicles that have arrived in the last four years have different number plates. Now the plan is to replace the toll plazas with cameras, which will read these number plates and the toll will be deducted directly from the user’s account. We can bring a provision for those cars which do not have these number plates.

According to government data from toll plazas , about 97 percent of the total toll collection of around Rs 40,000 crore currently comes through FASTags. The remaining 3 per cent people pay more than the toll rates for not using FASTags. With FASTags, it takes around 47 seconds per vehicle to cross a toll plaza. More than 260 vehicles per hour are removed through electronic toll collection lanes as against 112 vehicles per hour through manual toll collection lanes.

Because of this, more time is taken at toll plazas

FASTags have been made mandatory from February 16, 2021. However, at times people with low balance enter the toll plaza lane, which makes the process more time consuming. Sometimes internet connectivity issues also cause delays. There are two reasons for this, one is the breakdown of the radio frequency identification reader and tag and secondly, the user misplaced the FASTags.

By 2024, 26 green expressways will be built, Gadkari said, the central government is working continuously to improve the roads and highways in the country.
