LPG Price 1st January 2024: Five years ago, i.e. in 2019, petroleum companies had given a New Year gift to domestic LPG consumers. The price of 14 kg domestic LPG cylinder was reduced by Rs 120.50.

2024 is also an election year. General elections may be held in April-May. In such a situation, considering the old pattern, there may be a reduction in the rates of domestic LPG cylinders. Currently this cylinder is available in Delhi for Rs 903. According to the website of Indian Oil, the last huge reduction in cylinder rates was on 30 August 2023. It became cheaper by Rs 200 from Rs 1103 to Rs 903.

What were the cylinder rates on January 1 during the tenure of Modi government?

Narendra Modi government came in May 2014. The beginning of the year 2015 was full of relief for domestic LPG consumers. Cylinder prices dropped from Rs 770.50 to Rs 708.50. After this, in the second year on January 1, 2016, the cylinder once again became costlier by Rs 49.50 as compared to December 2015.

Cylinder was available for Rs 585 on January 1, 2017

On January 1, 2017, the rate of cylinder increased by only one rupee and it was being sold in Delhi at the rate of Rs 585. According to IOC data, by December 2017 the cylinder price reached Rs 747. On January 1, 2018, it came down to Rs 741 with a relief of just Rs 6. After this, the beginning of 2019 was full of relief. The cylinder became cheaper by Rs 120.50 and became Rs 689 on January 1, 2019. On January 1, 2020, the cylinder rate increased by Rs 19 and the price reached Rs 714.

Rates will not change on January 1 of 2022 and 2023

There was no change in the rate on January 1, 2021 as compared to the rate of December 2020. The price of domestic LPG cylinder in Delhi remained stable at Rs 694. In the year 2022, the rates did not change on January 1, but due to changes in other months of the year, the cylinder price reached Rs 1053. Similarly, the rates did not change in January 2023 also, but in March the cylinder reached Rs 1103. Overall, in view of the general elections of 2024, there is hope that domestic cylinder prices will reduce.

8th Pay Commission: Only after the general elections in the year 2024, there will be any discussion on the formation of new pay commission. But, it is certain that the matter is moving forward.

However, the movement of employee unions and many organizations is also moving forward. Preparations are going on for the nationwide movement. Just a few days ago, there was a lot of ruckus in Bengal too regarding this. According to the government machinery, there is currently no proposal on the 8th Pay Commission. Union Minister of State for Finance has also mentioned this in the Parliament.

But, the sources of the government departments tell that the time has not yet come for the formation of the Pay Commission. Its deadline will start in the year 2024. After the general elections of 2024, when the new government is formed, a decision will be taken on this.

As per earlier reports, an announcement regarding the 8th Pay Commission implementation plan was to be made during the Union Budget 2023. However, no such announcement was made.

Now the latest reports have again raised the hopes of the government employees regarding the 8th Pay Commission. Generally, the pay commission rules for government employees are changed every 10 years. This pattern was seen in the implementation of 5th, 6th and 7th Pay Commissions.

When will the 8th Pay Commission be implemented?

Even though there is no official announcement on the 8th Pay Commission, recent reports have claimed that the Center may start working on it and announce it in 2024. DNA report claims Center may announce 8th Pay Commission before Lok Sabha 2024 Lok Sabha elections will give massive pre-poll boost to lakhs of government employees. However, after the election results are declared and the new government is formed, the talks in this regard will reach a serious level

However, if these reports are true, then the 8th Pay Commission can be made in place of 7th Pay Commission by the end of 2024. If implemented, the recommendations could be implemented till 2026. After its implementation, the 8th Pay Commission will give huge increments to government employees from the lowest to the highest levels in the pay scale.

4% DA Hike Soon

The central government employees are now waiting for the DA hike to be announced and a finance ministry official said that there could be a 4 per cent hike in DA by next week as the paperwork is still underway.

The post 8th Pay Commission: Know when the government will implement the 8th Pay Commission? first appeared on Rightsofemployees.com.

The implementation of the four labor codes passed by the Parliament between the years 2019 and 2020 with the aim of bringing about a comprehensive change in India’s employment scenario is currently stalled.

People in the know of the matter say that they are unlikely to be implemented before the 2024 general elections. These four codes together form a consolidated version of 29 central labor laws. These include the Wage Code, 2019; Industrial Relations Code, 2020; Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020; and the Social Security Code, 2020. These four Samhitas have been equally praised and criticized.

These labor codes are one of the most important economic reforms undertaken by the Modi government. Critics see them as controversial and anti-labour, while those seeking free labor policies say these codes will promote growth and employment and eliminate outdated laws to keep up with a rapidly changing economy. The major changes made in these include major rules like firing of workers without the approval of the government, declaration of strike by the union, permission for women to work in night shift.

According to experts, three major reasons are preventing these codes from being implemented. First, some states are yet to publish rules regarding these. Second, talks between the Union labor ministry and the unions have stalled, and third, the Center is keen to involve all stakeholders in the process. This is because the Modi government had to withdraw the agricultural laws in 2021, the Center does not want such a situation.

Ten trade unions opposed them

A forum of 10 trade unions, barring the RSS-affiliated BMS, urged Labor Minister Bhupendra Yadav to repeal the four labor codes, saying they were anti-labour. Currently, 31 states have published draft rules under the Wage Code, while 26 states have come out with draft rules on the Occupational Safety Code. Preliminary procedures on the Industrial Relations Code have been completed by 28 states. Similarly, 28 states have published draft rules on social security legislation.
