Gujarat Health Minister Rushikesh Patel on Tuesday officially launched the revised health insurance scheme from his office in the presence of health department officials.

On behalf of the state government, it was said that the beneficiaries of PMJAY-MA in Gujarat will get an insurance cover of Rs 10 lakh, which is double the cover of Rs 5 lakh earlier. Gujarat Health Minister Rushikesh Patel said that people who have Ayushman cards can undergo surgeries, treatments, kidney, heart, liver and even cochlear transplants at an expense of up to Rs 10 lakh. It was informed that 2,027 government hospitals, 803 private and 18 central government hospitals in the state are authorized to provide treatment or perform surgeries under PMJAY-MA.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Mukhyamantri Amritam Yojana during his tenure as the Chief Minister of Gujarat with an insurance cover of Rs 2 lakh, which was later increased to Rs 3 lakh.
