The Union Budget 2023 is going to be presented in a few days. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the budget in front of the country on 1 February 2023. At the same time, people are hopeful that in this budget, some special announcements can be made by the Finance Minister regarding income tax.

However, before this, Aham is going to tell you a special thing about the budget. Income tax Whoever’s income is taxable, he has to file income tax in the country. There are currently two tax systems in the country. The name of one is Old Tax Regime, while the name of the other is New Tax Regime. In both the tax systems, different taxes are paid on different incomes. At the same time, a special thing is also hidden in both these income tax slabs.

Income Tax Slab

Under the financial year 2022-23, many slabs have been given in the New Tax Regime in the country. There are 5 percent, 10 percent, 15 percent, 20 percent, 25 percent and 30 percent slabs on the basis of income. Income tax is filed on different income according to different slabs. If tax is filed under this slab, then no exemption is also available.

On the other hand, on the basis of tax slabs for the financial year 2022-23, if the Old Tax Regime is seen, then the difference will be seen in it. In Old Tax Regime, tax is collected at the rate of 5%, 20% and 30%. In such a situation, it is to be noted that there is no slab of 10% in the Old Tax Regime. In this, after 5%, income tax is collected directly at the rate of 20%.

c will be presented in front of the country in a few days. People have high expectations from this budget. At the same time, there has been no change in the income tax slab for a few years.

In such a situation, people are hopeful that some relief step will be taken by the government regarding income tax. Whereas today we are going to tell you the important update related to income tax before the budget. People who do not file income tax should also be aware of this. Let’s know…

Income Tax Slab At present, income tax is collected in the country according to the two tax system. One of these is Old Tax Regime and the other is New Tax Regime. If a person files tax according to the Old Tax Regime, then he can also get many types of exemptions. On the other hand, if someone files tax according to the New Tax Regime, then he cannot get other exemptions. Whereas today we are going to update you about the slabs present in Old Tax Regime.

Income Tax Actually, there are four tax slabs in the Old Tax Regime, according to which tax is filed. According to the financial year 2022-2023, if an individual taxpayer below the age of 60 years in the country files tax according to the Old Tax Regime, then he does not have to pay any tax on an annual income of Rs 2.5 lakh. After this, 5% tax is charged from income of Rs 2.5 lakh per annum till income of Rs 5 lakh per annum.

Tax Slab According to Old Tax Regime, if someone’s income is more than Rs 5 lakh per annum and up to Rs 10 lakh per annum, then he will have to pay 20% income tax. On the other hand, if someone’s income is more than Rs 10 lakh annually, then he has to pay income tax of 30 percent.

The post Income Tax Slab Rate: Big news! 4 tax slabs and heavy income tax of 30 percent, know updates before budget first appeared on Rightsofemployees.com.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has said that it is the clear vision of the Modi government to empower the people along with improving their lives by fulfilling their basic needs. Sitharaman said at a book release function on Friday that this government has a clear perception about ‘what is empowerment’ versus ‘what is entitlement’. If you are thinking of empowering people, then there is no need for entitlement. If you meet their basic needs then people find their way to make their life better.

Income Tax

In this function, Nirmala Sitharaman said that in order to ensure low rates for the people of low income group, an alternative income tax system with seven tax slabs has been brought through the government. He said that along with the old tax system, the government has come up with an alternative system in which there is no exemption, but it is simpler and has lower tax rates. He said that in the old tax regime, each taxpayer could claim around 7-10 exemptions and the income tax rates ranged between 10, 20 and 30 per cent depending on the income bracket.

Income tax slabs

Sitharaman said, “I had to make seven slabs so that there are lower rates for people in the lower income group.” In the general budget 2020-21, an alternative income tax regime was introduced, in which individuals and Hindu undivided families (HUFs) HUF) were taxed with lower rates. However, other tax exemptions like rent allowance, housing loan interest and investment under 80C are not given in this arrangement.

Income tax slab rate

Under this, the total income up to Rs 2.5 lakh is tax free. After this, five per cent on total income from Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs five lakh, 10 per cent on total income from Rs five lakh to Rs 7.5 lakh, 15 per cent on income from Rs 7.5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh, from Rs 10 lakh Income up to Rs 12.5 lakh is taxed at 20 per cent, income from Rs 12.5 lakh to Rs 15 lakh is taxed at 25 per cent and income above Rs 15 lakh is taxed at 30 per cent.

Income tax return

Income up to Rs 2.5 lakh is tax free even under the old tax regime. After this, income between Rs 2.5 lakh and Rs 5 lakh is taxed at 5 per cent, while between Rs 5 lakh and Rs 10 lakh, 20 per cent tax is levied. After this, income above Rs 10 lakh is taxed at 30 per cent.

Tax on income Sitharaman said that the benefits of the old tax regime have not been removed, rather the new exemption-free tax regime is an alternative form of the income tax return system. He said that to end the harassment, the tax department has made arrangements for ‘faceless’ assessment of income tax returns.

Income Tax Slab: People do different things to earn. At the same time, people earn through employment and business. People also have to pay tax on this income. Every year people also have to pay income tax.

If someone’s income in a year is taxable, then he also has to pay tax. But many types of exemptions are also available while paying income tax. Even if your income is taxable, you can avail this exemption and save tax as well.

Income tax Actually, currently two tax slabs exist in the country. According to those tax slabs, people’s income is taxed. There are different tax slabs for different income groups. On the other hand, in general, income of more than Rs 2.5 lakh per annum starts being taxed. However, exemption can also be obtained on income of Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs 5 lakh annually. There are two tax slabs in the country, which include New Tax Regime and Old Tax Regime. In both the tax systems, there is a provision to pay tax at different rates on different incomes. However, in both the tax slabs, people initially get rebate as well.

Income Tax Slab

If a citizen below 60 years of age files tax according to Old Tax Regime or a citizen of any age files tax according to New Tax Regime, then he has to pay income tax of Rs. 2.5 lakh per annum to 5 lakh. 5% income tax has to be paid on annual income of Rs. However, a person with net taxable income less than or equal to Rs 5 lakh gets tax rebate under Section 87A, that is, such a person will not have to pay any tax in the New Tax Regime or Old Tax Regime up to an income of Rs 5 lakh.

Income Tax Slab Rate

Section 87A is a legal provision that allows tax exemption under the Income Tax Act of 1961. The section, which was inserted through the Finance Act of 2013, provides tax relief for individuals with income below a specified threshold. Section 87A provides that any person who is resident in India and whose income does not exceed Rs.5,00,000 is eligible to claim the rebate. Thus complete tax exemption is available to individuals having total taxable income less than Rs.5 lakh. This exemption is applicable only to individuals and not to companies etc. Also its exemption is calculated before adding health and educational cess of 4%.

Income Tax Return Section 87A was introduced in the Finance Act 2003 which was changed from time to time. At present, an individual taxpayer, who is a resident of India for the purpose of income tax and his annual income does not exceed Rs.5 lakh, can get a rebate of Rs.12,500 in income tax. The amount of tax to be made on an annual income of Rs 5 lakh is also Rs 12500. In such a situation, with the help of this rebate, the entire income tax of the people is waived up to Rs 5 lakh. However, the right to claim exemption under section 87A is completely lost if this limit is exceeded.

Tax Free Slab: Income Tax is very important like other important things in the life of common man. Government’s preparations have started for the 2023 budget and people are expecting changes in the tax slab this time.

At the very beginning of the pre-budget meetings, the demand for revising it has started rising. The central government is considering increasing the tax-free slab to Rs 5 lakh in the two-year-old alternative personal income tax regime. According to a government official, at present the taxpayer does not have to pay any tax if his annual taxable income is Rs 2.50 lakh. By increasing the scope of tax-free slabs, the tax burden on the taxpayers will be reduced and they will be left with more money to spend or make suitable investments.

He said that very few taxpayers have opted for the alternative tax regime. If taxpayers take advantage of tax exemptions like Section 80C, Section 80D, then the tax liability in the old personal income tax system comes down. But there is no benefit of any kind of deduction in the new system. This step is being taken because very few people have adopted the new tax system.

Tax related agenda will start from next week

According to sources, this issue has been raised during the preparations for the upcoming budget and the concerned departments have been asked to suggest ways to improve the system. The official says that as part of the budget-making exercise, the tax-related agenda will start from next week, where we will look into the possibility of such changes in the taxation system. However, he said that while considering any such proposal, it must be seen that how much this change will affect the total revenue received by the government and whether we have the scope to do so or not.

He said that a preliminary estimate of the impact on revenue due to the increase in the tax-free range under the new system has been done and it can be sent to the budget makers for consideration. He said that it can also be discussed that there is no need to change both the old and new systems of personal income tax.

Understand the new tax slab like this

If we look at the new tax slab, the tax rate has been kept low in it. The new tax slab is different from the old slab in many ways. There are more slabs with lower rates. Apart from this, the benefits of many exemptions and deductions have been reduced as compared to the old tax slab. In this system, as the income increases, the tax slab increases and in this sequence the tax liability also increases.

Zero tax on earning up to 2.5 lakhs,

5% on 2.5-5 lakhs (exemption under 87A),

10% on 5-7.5 lakhs,

15% on 7.5-10 lakhs,

20% on 10-12.5 lakhs,

25% on 12.5-15 lakhs,

30% tax has to be paid on income above 15 lakhs.

Old tax slab

In the old tax slab, no tax has to be deposited on income up to 5 lakhs. Apart from this, under section 80C, there is exemption from depositing tax on investment of Rs 1.5 lakh. Accordingly, taxpayers do not have to pay tax on income up to about 6.5 lakhs. Income tax rate in old tax regime or old tax slab mainly depends on your income and income slab. Age is also taken into account in this.

Up to 2.5 Lakh – 0%

2.5 lakh to 5 lakh – 5%

5 lakh to 10 lakh – 20%

Above 10 Lakh – 30%

Need for consultation with stakeholders

The new system of alternate personal income tax slabs with a lower rate of tax was introduced as an option in the Union Budget 2020-21. However, estimates suggest that only 10 to 12 per cent taxpayers have opted for it due to higher tax liability as compared to the old system. There is also discussion on reforms in direct taxes including restructuring of capital gains tax. With regard to capital gains, the official indicated that it would be a separate exercise and could be done outside the budget, as it required extensive consultations with all stakeholders.

Income Tax Slab Rate Change Expectations: After the Corona epidemic, the country’s economy is slowly coming back on track. Less than 60 days are left for the presentation of the Union Budget.

In such a situation, like every time, there are a lot of expectations from farmers to job professionals and businessmen regarding the budget. In this budget, tax experts are hoping that there can be some relief in the higher tax slab from Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. If this relief is given by the government, then it will be the biggest announcement for the job profession.

Payment of tax on the basis of income slab

Deloitte is hopeful that in this budget, relief can be given by the government in the tax slab. At present, people have to pay income tax on the basis of income slab. Deloitte’s partner Tapati Ghosh says on the expectation from the budget that currently the highest income tax rate in the country is 42.744 percent (including surcharge and cess) on income above Rs 5 crore. There has not been any change in the income tax slab since the financial year 2017-18.

There will be a direct impact on the purchasing power, says Tapati Ghosh, this time it is expected that the government can give some relief to the tax payers coming in the 30% slab. This will directly affect their purchasing power. He hoped that this time the highest rate of income tax of 30 percent can be reduced to 25 percent. Along with this, the tax expert has also demanded that the limit of the highest tax rate of income tax should be increased from 10 lakhs to 20 lakhs.

Demand for revision of tax slab rates in Budget 2023 by Deloitte

– Currently there is 30 percent tax on income above Rs 20 lakh, which should be reduced to 25 percent.
– Tax on income between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 20 lakh should be reduced from 30 per cent to 20 per cent.
In the new tax regime, income tax should be reduced to 20 percent on income between 10 lakh to 20 lakh.
