This rule of UTS app changed

Captain Shashi Kiran, Chief Public Relations Officer of North Western Railway, said that the Railways has made important changes in the UTS on mobile app to provide easy ticketing facility to the passengers traveling in ordinary class. Under this, the distance limit for booking tickets through this app has been removed, due to which now general tickets can be booked from any place.

You will get general train ticket sitting at home

A passenger can book an unreserved ticket through the UTS (Unreserved Ticketing System) mobile app. He said that now the distance limit for booking general tickets has been removed in the app. With the introduction of this facility, now passengers can book general tickets from any place.

20 kilometer limit reached

According to a statement, earlier the maximum distance limit for booking general tickets through UTS on mobile app was 20 kilometers, that is, no passenger could book a ticket if the distance from the station platform was more than 20 kilometers. Now with the removal of distance limit, general tickets can be booked online from anywhere.

However, no change has been made in the minimum distance of Geo Facing in the app, under which the passenger cannot book general tickets online from the platform and inside the train.

According to this, through the facility of UTS on Mobile App, the passenger gets an easy interface using which the passenger can easily make paperless general ticket/platform ticket/season ticket on the mobile, this saves the time of the passenger as well. Paper is saved and environmental protection is promoted.

But now the new order given by the Railway Board will provide relief to the passengers traveling on RAC tickets.

A new order has been issued by the Railway Board for the convenience of passengers traveling on RAC tickets. It was said in this order that keeping in mind the needs of such passengers, RAC passengers traveling in AC class will be given a complete bed roll kit including blanket, bedsheet and towel, along with pillows. That means RAC passengers will be given two kits of bed roll. Earlier there was provision of only one kit for both the passengers.

Why was the decision taken

It was told by a railway official that the Railway Board took this decision because the bedroll charge is already included in the fare charged from RAC passengers for traveling in AC class. In this regard, a letter has been written to the General Managers of all the Zonal Railways on behalf of Railway Board Principal Executive Director Shailendra Singh. In this, orders have been given to ensure arrangements for providing linen and a bedroll kit to RAC passengers. After this decision of Railways, RAC passengers will get a lot of convenience.

Full charge was taken from RAC passengers also

According to Railway Board, the bedroll kit is as per the fare system applicable for RAC passengers in AC class (except AC chair car). The purpose of this move is to treat RAC passengers at par with other passengers getting confirmed seats. With this they will also be able to travel comfortably. Generally, chances of confirmation of RAC ticket are less in long distance trains. The chances of getting RAC ticket confirmation are higher in short distance trains.

What is RAC ticket?

RAC simply means ‘Reservation Against Cancellation’ (RAC). This is a kind of ticket, it is issued when all the berths in the train are booked. Passengers with RAC tickets are allowed to board the train but they do not get the full seat. They get a seat just to sit. To sleep they have to share a berth with another passenger.

He had said that Railways is already giving subsidized tickets. After this, it has become clear that the concessions given before 2020 to other categories including senior citizens will not be started in future also. Before Corona, till March 2020, fare concession was given to women above 58 years of age and men above 60 years of age.

This discount was stopped by the Railways from 2020. On this, parliamentary committees, different organizations and MPs had recommended restoring the exemption. However, it has been decided by the Railways that passengers suffering from some serious diseases like cancer etc. will continue to get fare concessions. Railways says that the facilities will be increased in the coming times. Like elderly people and women will get lower berths on priority basis without paying extra fare.
