Flights on three international routes completely suspended

Air India has informed that flights on Delhi-Nairobi, Amritsar-London (Gatwick) and Goa (Mopa)-London (Gatwick) routes have been completely suspended till further orders. Apart from this, the number of flights has been reduced on 16 international routes including North America, Europe, Australia.

Re-scheduling and refund facility

In view of the inconvenience of the passengers, Air India has provided them the option of free re-scheduling or full refund. The airline said in its statement that this decision has been taken with the aim of making the operation of flights more smooth, so that passengers can be saved from the trouble of flight cancellation at the last moment.

Strictness increased after the Ahmedabad accident

This decision has come at a time when recently flight AI171 from Ahmedabad to London (Gatwick) crashed soon after take-off, killing 241 out of 242 passengers. After this accident, many serious questions were raised about the technical flaws of Air India and the reliability of flights.

Air India has clarified that this is a temporary step and plans are being made to resume flights after July 15. The airlines appealed to the passengers for cooperation and said that their safety is the top priority and all international operations will be normalised as soon as possible.

As the festival of colours Holi approaches, airlines in India have launched Holi sales, offering discounts on domestic and international flights. Akasa Air, IndiGo, Star Air have cut fares for a limited period, making air travel more affordable for passengers planning to travel during the festive season.

Tickets start at Rs 1,499

Akasa Air has announced discounts across its network, with all domestic tickets starting at ₹1,499. Customers can also avail up to 15% discount on Saver and Flexi base fares for both domestic and international flights using the promo code HOLI15. The airline is also offering a 15 per cent discount on Seat Select for all flights.

Booking 7 days in advance

This is applicable for bookings made between March 10 and March 13, 2025 for travel starting March 17, 2025. This includes non-stop and connecting planes in the Akasa Air network, which require booking at least seven days in advance.

Holi Getaway Sale

On March 10, IndiGo launched its Holi offer, called the “Holi Getaway Sale”. The low-cost airline is offering fares starting at Rs 1,199 for domestic flights and Rs 4,199 for international. The promotion, which runs from March 10 to March 12, is valid for travel between March 17 and September 21, 2025. The airline is also offering discounted add-ons to make travel more affordable for customers booking flights during this period.

It’s Holi

Regional airline Star Air has also launched a festive fare scheme under its ‘Holi Hai’ promotion. The airline is offering economy class fares starting at Rs 999 and business class fares starting at Rs 3,099 across all its destinations. Under this offer, bookings can be made from March 11 to March 17, 2025 for travel between March 11 and September 30, 2025.

These promotional tickets offered by the airline are applicable on all routes connecting New Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Bengaluru with Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang and Phu Quoc. The airlines had announced around 30,000 promotional tickets.

Nearing booking last date

Passengers can book these cheap promotional tickets on every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday till 26 August 2022. Customers can buy these tickets by visiting VietJet’s website www.vietjetair.com. Apart from this, tickets can also be purchased by visiting VietJet Air’s mobile app. The duration of the yatra will be from 15 August 2022 to 26 March 2023.

New flights will start

VietJet has recently announced 11 additional new routes between India and Vietnam. This has made it the largest airline by capacity between these two countries. The airline will have 17 services between the two countries. VietJet had said that from September 9, 2022, four weekly flights will be introduced on the Mumbai-Phu Quoc route every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

Also, services between New Delhi and Phu Quoc will also start from September 9, 2022. These flights will be on every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. VietJet currently operates four services connecting New Delhi/Mumbai to Ho Chi Minh City. The airline is operating 4 flights every week on this route.
