Air India Flight: Air India has been in the news ever since the horrific plane crash in Ahmedabad. In this connection, the airlines took a big step on Wednesday and decided to cut 15 percent of flights on its international routes and completely cancel flights on three international routes. This temporary decision will be in effect from June 21 to July 15, 2025.
Flights on three international routes completely suspended
Air India has informed that flights on Delhi-Nairobi, Amritsar-London (Gatwick) and Goa (Mopa)-London (Gatwick) routes have been completely suspended till further orders. Apart from this, the number of flights has been reduced on 16 international routes including North America, Europe, Australia.
Re-scheduling and refund facility
In view of the inconvenience of the passengers, Air India has provided them the option of free re-scheduling or full refund. The airline said in its statement that this decision has been taken with the aim of making the operation of flights more smooth, so that passengers can be saved from the trouble of flight cancellation at the last moment.
Strictness increased after the Ahmedabad accident
This decision has come at a time when recently flight AI171 from Ahmedabad to London (Gatwick) crashed soon after take-off, killing 241 out of 242 passengers. After this accident, many serious questions were raised about the technical flaws of Air India and the reliability of flights.
Air India has clarified that this is a temporary step and plans are being made to resume flights after July 15. The airlines appealed to the passengers for cooperation and said that their safety is the top priority and all international operations will be normalised as soon as possible.
