Passport is an important document, which is issued by the Passport Department of the Ministry of External Affairs. It is an important document to prove identity as well as citizenship.

It is not possible to go abroad (except for some countries) without a passport. In foreign countries, your citizenship is proved only through passport. The Government of India has changed the rules for making passport. Now it has been made mandatory for any applicant to provide birth certificate. That is, for those people who are born after October 1, 2023 and are willing to make a passport, it has now been made mandatory for them to provide birth certificate for their date of birth.

1. Birth Certificate: If people born after October 1, 2023 are looking to make a passport, then only birth certificates will be valid for their date of birth. However, people born before this can prove their date of birth on the basis of additional documents like 10th board mark sheet or certificate, school living certificate, PAN card, driving license or any other government ID.

2. Residential address : The residential address will no longer be printed on the last page of the revised passport; instead, immigration officers will be able to access the information by scanning the barcode.

3. Colour-coding system: A new colour-coded system has now been introduced for passports. White passports will be issued for officials, red for diplomats and blue for ordinary citizens which will provide ease and convenience for officials to identify passports.

4. Removal of parents’ name: The names of the parents of the passport holders will no longer be printed on the last page of the passport. This rule will provide relief to children of single parents or separated families and their privacy will be maintained.

5. Expansion of Passport Seva Kendra: The government has decided to increase the number of Passport Seva Kendras from 442 to 600 in the next five years. This will enhance security, efficiency and convenience for applicants.

It is important to be cautious of fake sites while making a passport. The Ministry of External Affairs has advised users to avoid fake sites that charge huge amounts in the name of making a passport. Understand the process before booking an appointment and do not give money to anyone.

If you are thinking of getting a passport, then you have to be very cautious. Today we are going to give you information about this. Actually, many such cases have come to light in which users who were going to get a passport have suffered losses. We are saying this because things have changed a lot and some time ago the passport service portal was closed due to India maintenance. During this time there were many such fake sites which were trending.

Foreign Ministry gave warning-

The Union Ministry of External Affairs had issued a warning regarding this. It said that users should be cautious of fake passport sites. There are many such sites available which are advising users to get a passport made and are charging huge amounts of money in return. In such a situation, before booking an appointment, you do not need to pay anyone for the process. Also, during this time you should also identify fake sites.

Why is it dangerous?

The question arises that these sites prove to be dangerous? This is also because they obtain a lot of personal information from the users which proves to be very dangerous for them. Users are also charged a lot of money to get a passport made. In such a situation, you have to take special care of many things while getting a passport made. While giving information, your permission is also taken that they are noting your personal information.

You have to take an appointment to get a passport made. In this, you can book from home. But before that, you have to go online and fill everything, this is very important. Once approved, the passport comes directly to your home.

Last year, the Ministry of External Affairs had made new provisions for speedy disposal of passport applications. It was named ‘Immediate Plan’. This helped a lot to those people who had to travel very quickly and for this they needed a passport as soon as possible. You can now easily apply for Tatkal passport by visiting Passport India website. As per the department, as soon as your application is accepted, you will get the passport within three working days.

If you get a 35 page passport made immediately and your age is more than 18 years then you will have to spend Rs.3500. For more information, you can use the fee calculator on the website of the Passport Department.

These are the steps of online application

The government will issue e-passports to the citizens of the country from the year 2023. For this, an estimated expenditure of Rs 268.67 crore will be spent on the construction of information and technology infrastructure in a phased manner in seven years.

The Ministry of External Affairs gave this information to the Standing Committee of Parliament in response to its action in this matter. The Ministry informed that National Informatics Center (NIC) and National Informatics Center Services Inc. (NICSI) have submitted various project proposals to the Ministry which include Detailed Project Reports (DPRs), Commercial and Draft Agreements.

As per the report, the total estimated expenditure for launching the e-passport project by NIC is Rs 268.67 crore. This is mainly in terms of creation of information and technology infrastructure for issuing e-passports.

This was stated in the Action Taken Report by the Government on the Recommendations contained in the Twelfth Report of the Parliamentary Committee on External Affairs on ‘Demands for Grants of the Ministry of External Affairs for 2022-23’ in the Lok Sabha.

Apply Online Passport: The Ministry of External Affairs has taken a big decision regarding the application for passport. Now you will get rid of many troubles after applying for passport. In a way, now getting a passport will be even easier.

Let us tell you that due to the huge number of passport applications, the demand for Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) has increased significantly, which is causing some problems. To overcome this problem, the Ministry of External Affairs has taken a big decision. Now after 28 September 2022 all online Post Offices in India will be able to apply for PCC services at Passport Seva Kendras (POPSKs). This service will be available across India. Now after this it will be even easier to get a passport.

Ministry of External Affairs announced about Online Passport Apply

The Ministry of External Affairs made a statement, in which it was said that the Ministry is working to simplify passport related services and make the process better for the citizens. There was a huge increase in the demand for Police Clearance Certificate (PCC). In view of this, now the facility of applying for PCC services is being provided in all online Post Office Passport Seva Kendras in India.

What is meant by Police Clearance Certificate?

This certificate is issued by the police. This certificate is required if people take a visa for residential status, job or long term. At the same time, for information, let us tell you that PCC is not required to go abroad on tourist visa.

Who will benefit

According to the ministry, after this decision, not only those going for employment abroad will be benefitted but the demand of other PCC needs will be met. Like in the case of education and in the case of visas for a long time.

Required documents

address proof document

Self attested photocopy of the job agreement with the foreign employer.

Copy of seven valid visas with official English translation (if visa is not in English)

Self attested photocopy of ECR/Non-ECR.
