Rapid Rail Corridor in Delhi NCR: To alleviate pollution and traffic congestion in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR), preparations for two new Namo Bharat (RRTS) corridors have accelerated. The opening of the Delhi-Panipat-Karnal and Delhi-Gurugram-Bawal corridors will significantly reduce traffic congestion on the roads. According to the proposed Detailed Project Report (DPR), the operation of trains on these routes will reduce the number of private vehicles on the roads.

Delhi to Karnal in 90 Minutes

The opening of the Delhi-Panipat-Karnal corridor under the Namo Bharat (RRTS) project will make travel between Delhi and Haryana much faster and more convenient. This 136-km route will now reduce the distance from Delhi to Karnal in just 90 minutes, while reaching Murthal from Kashmiri Gate will take only 30 minutes. A total of 17 major stations are proposed along this corridor, including Sarai Kale Khan, Kashmere Gate, Kundli, Sonipat, Gannaur, Samalkha, Panipat, and Karnal. This corridor will not only provide relief to ordinary travelers but will also accelerate economic development by directly connecting major industrial hubs such as Sonipat Education City, Kundli, Barhi Industrial Area, and Panipat Refinery.

The Delhi-Gurugram-Bawal journey will end in one hour.

The 92-km-long Delhi-Gurugram-Bawal corridor will begin at Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi and extend via Munirka and Aerocity (Delhi Airport) to Bawal in Haryana. Once operational, the journey between Delhi and Bawal will take just one hour. This corridor will directly connect major industrial areas like Gurugram, Manesar, and Bawal to Delhi Airport and the Delhi Metro.

Relief from Traffic Jams

Under the Namo Bharat Mission, 55 km of the 82 km stretch of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Corridor has already been commissioned. Officials say that once the entire corridor is operational, public transport use on this route will increase from 37 percent to 63 percent. This will remove over 100,000 private vehicles from the roads each year and reduce approximately 2.5 lakh tons of carbon dioxide emissions. This will reduce road congestion, pollution, and accidents.

Fuel consumption is 5 times lower than road transport.

Namo Bharat trains will prove to be a ‘green boon’ for the NCR from an environmental perspective. According to NCRTC officials, Namo Bharat trains will reduce fossil fuel consumption by one-fifth. Running at an average speed of 90 km per hour, Namo Bharat trains will offer a fast, comfortable, and environmentally friendly travel option with fewer stops. This is why they are considered the best green transportation option for the NCR.

The loyalty point program launched by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has been expanded. Under this, discounts are being provided on tickets purchased through the Namo Bharat mobile app.

One point for every rupee

Passengers will earn one point for every rupee spent on travelling on Namo Bharat trains using the NCMC card. Each point is worth 10 paise. The points will be credited to the passenger’s NCMC account.

For example, if a passenger spends 100 on travel, 100 points will be credited to his NCMC account. This discount is available on any NCMC card.
